The way I see it Matt played a fundamental part to the UYI albums and the following tour, and therefore I consider him an important part of GNRs' legacy. Obviously if it was between Adler and Sorum, I would choose the former. Appetite is the best rockalbum ever imo and he is the original drummer. Simple. But that doesn't remove anything from Matt and his contributions. UYI would have been very different without him, and his more techincal yet hard-hitting drumming fit perfectly for that. And honestly, I don't think Axl would consider the drummer for GN'R classics such as November Rain, Estranged etc. as just a filler. He's the original drummer for those songs. Slash, Duff and Steven obviously has no problem with Matt so it really boils down to Axl. If he's able to settle it with Slash, who was the number one enemy for decades, I believe he's able to make peace with Matt. Just my two cents. And I could be wrong. I really thought the Detroit opener would have had some sort of surprise guest. I don't want to see bucket or bumble or even Matt. Bring on Izzy and all is good.
