ChineseDemocracy2004 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 A few of my friends will be happy this morning. Quote
soon Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 They're both awesome! I love SOADs blend of politics, faith, spirituality, love and rage. What a powerfully timed release too, with members of the band being divided in opinion about Trump, but the band members have looked beyond that to address more pressing issues like the situation facing Armenia. Download proceeds benefit the cause for Armenian independence - by way of relief. Its just like Trump who? MAGA what? They are shit stains on history. All those betas getting ready to play toy soldier because theyre so dumb that they think Biden is a socialist need to give their fucking heads a shake. Look around the world where there is actual catastrophes happening. Heavy as it all is, this release just made 2020 kinda alright for a second 2 Quote
rocknroll41 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Never thought the day would come. Thank fuck! 2 Quote
Gibson87 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I've been waiting for this for years. Gonna listen to them on my way to the gym. If I know System, these tracks will be good 3 Quote
ZoSoRose Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 What an awesome surprise. I'm half Armenian, and although I'm not as educated on the crisis as I should be, I was moved by "Protect the Land". Both songs rock, and it bums me out they can't get their heads together for new material because this shows they still have it. Is GNR now the only big reunion band that hasn't put a new song out? 2 Quote
Amir Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Protect the Land has really grown on me. I put the SOAD discography on shuffle on Spotify and when it came to Protect the Land I thought it was an older song that I had somehow overlooked. Such a great band, I love going through their back catalogue every once in a while, every time I do so it's like I'm rediscovering the songs and everything is a pleasant surprise. 1 Quote
Amir Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) Unlike a lot of fans I actually really dig Daron's voice, but Serj is weirdly realllllly low in the mix on Protect the Land, just a little louder would have been perfect. Edited November 6, 2020 by Amir Quote

Yeah I love Mesmorize and Hypnotize. Seth should still stay in the forefront though Edited November 8, 2020 by ZoSoRose 1 Quote
Mendez Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 People seem to be surprised that Dolmayan (drummer) is doing blast beats, when he's done them before on, Dreaming, Attack, Cigaro, Sad Statue, B.Y.O.B., Bounce Quote

Rage Against The Machine come to mind too. The new SOAD songs are ok. They still sound like SOAD and it's cool that they got together and released these for a good reason. Protect The Land is obviously the better of the songs (though I agree Serj should've been mixed a little higher.) 1 Quote
Axlr0s37 Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Awesome to finally get new SOAD. Really like the songs as well! 1 Quote

RAGE too. These songs are good, but like Mesmerise and hypnotize Darons vocal is just too prominent. I'd live if he sang half as much and let Serj do what he does best! 1 Quote

Gibson87 Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I like Genocidal Humanoidz the best, sounds like it could have been on Toxicity. Additionally, this has reignited my interest in System. Going through all their old stuff now. 2 Quote
ZoSoRose Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I saw them in 2012. It was a great concert 1 Quote
