lame ass security
Interesting stuff and surprising. Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger, and Robert Plant had almost the exact same range. And Elvis and John Lennon was exactly the same. You could probably win some bar bets with that information.

You’re correct, Mike Patton is universally recognized by his peers as one of the greatest vocalist/frontman in the history of rock music. Ok. Yes, he kind of is. He might not be a big star but he's recognized as one of the greatest vocalists in rock music by people familiar with his work (peers included). I won't bother with sources, if interested, try google.

tkarmy
This topics and articles that pop up saying axl or anyone for that matter have anything more than a 4 octave range are stupid. Nobody can sing anywhere near 5 or 6 octaves it’s physically impossible. Axl can hit (maybe) a low eb below middle c (think demon “long time” in TWAT And the highest I’ve heard him is an a high e ... so the 3rd e above middle c. when people start throwing around this or that person have a 7 octave range. That’s like being able to sing the entire piano range. Impossible period

Powderfinger
Naff question, but where would Meatloaf fall here I wonder. He hits some pretty high notes on the bat out of hell album. (bat out of hell was one of the few rock records my parents had, so I listened to it a lot back in the day)

Izzy Naive kid me thought that is was Axl on the high parts and Izzy would duet with him whenever they needed a low voice ha I thought the same thing! It just sounded completely different... and I was 11 without internet😄 1

PirateRadio
We know the list. But what does it say that Axl sucks now and keeps touring! It’s awful. Never thought McCarthy was a great singer.. I prefer Lennon, and some will claim Harrison. So he could be the third best singer in a band of four. Okay.
