It was on the same day (or rather the following, since it was after midnight) Axl jammed with West Arkeen at the Scrap Bar.

There is this quote from Ian Astbury:

https://www.a-4-d.com/t3215-1989-08-05-new-musical-express-cult-jam-with-g-n-r

See also here:

https://www.a-4-d.com/t4988p30-10-1989-things-unravel#19294

Matt talks about it in his book. It was the first time met Axl. He says Christopher Walken was with them at first but he didn't follow them at the Loft, and that they jammed from about 4:00 a.m. until well into the morning, then Jamie Stewart left and Ian Astbury was puking outside.

Axl mentions that the only things he knows about Pittsburgh is steel and that Terry Bradshaw (ex-Steelers quarterback) used to lose him money betting on football games. Axl also says that the original lineup of the tour was supposed to be GN'R, Metallica & Jane's Addiction, with all 3 bands playing full sets.

July 29, 1988 - Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, WI

Notes: Axl goes off on Wisconsin's police. Axl introduces 'Used To Love Her' by saying, "this is what to do when your sweet child becomes a pain in the ass."

July 29, 1992 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

Notes: The 2nd Giants Stadium show of the GN'R / Metallica tour. 'Mr. Brownstone' is started after 'Perfect Crime,' but suddenly the band breaks into 'It's So Easy.' The band gets really edgy and holds off playing 'Mr. Brownstone' until the 4th song in the set. Rare performance of 'Rocket Queen' during the summer '92 tour. For an unknown reason Axl doesn't sing a lot of lines to 'Rocket Queen.' Axl gets hit by a cigarette lighter (Thanks Andreas!) during 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' and Duff sings the rest, the show ends after the song.

July 29, 2006 - Wembley Arena, London, England (Night 1)

Notes: The band arrived onstage at 11:45pm, almost 90 minutes after BFMV had finished their 35 minute set. Sebastian Bach played beforehand, for almost 50 minutes, and the crowd were becoming restless watching women in their mid 30s shed their clothes for a couple of seconds fame. At one point all the lights in the arena went off and the intro music began, like something from Jaws, with the spotlights going around the arena. Axl didnt say anything until 5 songs into the set, and mentioned that the band were running two competitions that night, the first to join them at a second acoustic performance in London in several hours, and the second being an all expenses paid trip to the Inland Invasion concert. He said that everyone who had bought standing tickets had their names taken going into the arena and if their name was called out they had won VIP passes to the acoustic show. He started calling out names, and did so inbetween a few songs, bringing Izzy Stradlin on for some cover versions of The Rolling Stones' 'Sway,' Rod Stewart's 'Sailing', and The Beatles; 'Back In The U.S.S.R.' before continuing on with their own songs. The concert ended at approx 1am.

August 1, 1987 - Whisky A Go Go, Hollywood, CA

Notes: This was the video shoot for 'Welcome To The Jungle.' From director Nigel Dick - "GUNS N' ROSES will perform the number onstage at the Whiskey. We will shoot the band's close-ups during the day and then let in a regular audience that evening and shoot them during their live show. They will play the song perhaps two or three times during the show."

On this day…..I checked mygnrforum and to no surprise, there were no meaningful updates on anything GNR

A few things happened on July 31:

1987: Appetite had its worldwide release.

1988: An interesting interview with Alan Niven was published: (16) 1988.07.31 - Interview with Alan Niven (a-4-d.com) Niven was talking about the band's newfound success.

1992: A situation report from the ongoing tour is published by the Atlanta Constitution: (16) 1992.07.31 - The Atlanta Constitution/The Buffalo News - Guns N' Bruises (Duff) (a-4-d.com)

1998: The Entertainment Weekly stated the composition of the band's new lineup and quote a source who described the new music as "techno-influenced": (16) 1998.07.31 - Entertainment Weekly - More Than Blanks (a-4-d.com)

It would be nice if you would post this every day, I mostly only post concerts so it would be great if you would post this things regularly. :)

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I was alerted to the live version of "Welcome To The Jungle" that was played by the band on 8/01/87, where much of the official video was taken from. I'd never seen it before, had no idea it existed. Pretty cool, and Axl sounds great.

August 2, 1988 - Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, IN

Notes: Before 'Out Ta Get Me,' Axl goes off on Indiana! He says, among other things, that he saw AC/DC play this arena about 7 or 8 years before and that he got arrested at that show. (The AC/DC show was actually on November 28, 1981. Thanks Andreas!) Later he tells the crowd that maybe the band can give them a double album next summer!

August 2, 1991 - Great Western Forum, Inglewood, CA (Night 3)

Notes: Special guest performance by Shannon Hoon. Before 'You Could Be Mine,' Axl yells "this one's for Arnold!" The Alt. Lyrics version of 'Don't Cry' is played, probably for the first time!

August 4, 1988 - Philadelphia Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA (Night 1)

Notes:  Before 'Out Ta Get Me,' Axl goes off on a parking attendant and a cop who tried to stop him from driving into the venue before the show. Axl says that the cop said to him, "fuck your civil rights, I'm the law." Axl introduces Slash as "the devil with the Les Paul."
