If handled by a guitarist who knew their guitarist and gear (like Richard, Slash, or Robin) it would actually sound very good. It's just that damn tone. I know DJ has mentioned he's changed his rig to make it as simple as possible, but the first time I hear that "Patience" solo (back in South America) I literally thought for a second that it was Chris Pittman messing around on a synthesizer. Perhaps like this? Not in Ashba's wildest dreams.That one is better than the on DJ Ashba plays.Slash's guitar has a softer tone to it than DJ's, seems to have more of a tune to it. I just realised there are drums played on stage but not on the record, in the film clip they made Steven didn't play drums & nobody was really talking to him. IMO both these clips could easily pass as '10 performances on a not so great night…Axl is getting finally getting on the right track, or is he…?
