HEAR DUFF AND IZZY'S FIRST NEW TRACK (also, new Duff interview)

Recommended Posts

I dig it! Not amazing, but a lot better than I expected.

Duff's voice sounds different, too. Or maybe it's just me. I like it though.

Duff's voice sounds different because that's Jerry Cantrell from AIC :P

 Damn. I could have sworn it was him.

It's Duff singing, not Cantrell.

Is it? Maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn that the EP press release said Cantrell would be singing. I stand corrected if I was wrong, then.

Don't know about the other songs but this is for sure Duff singing. It's obvious if you know their voices but it's in the article as well. :D

The song, which is premiering below, finds Stradlin strumming a brooding acoustic riff while Cantrell plays bluesy mournful slide guitar and McKagan sings of a youth misspent. "Cheap thrills, pharmaceuticals – just going with the flow," he snarls. "What it takes to be a man/Oh, I wish I knew back then."

Fine you win :P. I admit I mostly only skimmed the interview, was mostly in it for the song. Nothing to see here, carry on...

Don't worry, it's definitely Duff on vocals. And he's improved his singing once again. Classy tune!

Cool track, does anyone want to bother with transcribing the lyrics?

They hard to understand?

Not really, but English isn't my first language and I always had an easier time by interpreting lyrics through text instead of speech. Yeah, I'm a lazy fucking asshole.

I dig this! Although the lyrics are probably the weakest point.

Lyrics (transcribed by ear):

What it takes to be a man

Oh I wish I knew

Bar fights and careless one night stands

Oh we did not know

Cheap thrills, pharmaceuticals

Just goin with the flow

What it takes to be a man

Oh I wish I knew back then

It was raisin hell at school

By 21 so damn cool

At 25 we gotta run with those lies

All the time, baby realize

What it takes to be a man

Oh I wish I knew back then

What it takes to be a man

Oh I wish I knew

Raisin hell at school

By 21 so damn cool

At 25 we gotta run with those lies

Now's the time, baby realize

Now it's time to let it go son

What it takes, I would not know

What it takes to be a man,

Oh I wish I knew

Bar fights and rock champions?

Oh we did not know

Cheap thrills and pharmaceuticals

Just goin' with the flow

What it takes to be a man

Oh I wish I knew back then

Raisin hell at school

By 21 so damn cool

At 25 we gotta run with those lies

Now's the time, baby realize

So say hello to your youth?

So damn the lies and untruth

Say goodbye to the well known lies

And for the one day I hope you realise....

What it takes to be a man X 4

I marked a couple of words I just wasn't sure on, but I'm pretty sure the rest is right.

Awesome to hear something from Duffman and Izzy! Not to mention Cantrell too!!

Cool track, but i don't really like Cantrell's voice, almost like a total amateur....

The music itself is good

Okay i realise that it's Duff, now i'm an idiot

I still don't like this voice, though

I thought Duff has a better voice than this....

very generic and weak track

Gave it another listen today. Not something I think I'll go back to very often. Maybe the other tunes on the EP will be better. Lyrics are very horrid, but it's nice to hear the guys playing together and sharing ideas.
