Gracii Guns
Most of us begin with a broad spectrum of options for career choices when we're young, which quickly narrow down due to increased self-awareness, pushy parents or lack of options. So if things panned out differently for you, what other career options did you have? Or what's your dream career if you're still chasing it?I'm really looking forward to reading these, because it's easy here to label people according to the jobs they do, but then we miss out on so many talents and interests that are impressive and a big part of a persons' character. The most outlandish option for me was synchronised swimming. I did it aged 10 to 16, and when I was 16 my coach moved on, so I couldn't continue learning. I wasn't amazing, but did compete regionally and was obsessed. Otherwise, I struggled at A-Level due to circumstances at home, so my Mum told me to pull my socks up, otherwise I'd be sent to the local college to study Travel and Tourism (I was keen on languages). That was enough incentive to get through my A-Levels and avoid working in Thomson Holidays!

MB.
Historian or journalist. Unfortunately my health and life choices influenced by my health, made me not go after those things.I could still do it maybe, I don't know. It would take me years and years to graduate though. So maybe....
Axls Rocket Queen
I've wanted to be a vet since I was little, so I'd probably still be doing the same! I guess I might have ended up doing something creative if I'd had more focus on my dance and drama training when I was younger, or gone to art school
Anguyen92
I should have wanted to become an accountant two years earlier than I should have, rather than going into college without any drive to do anything, but just want to become a professional online poker player (what the hell was I thinking back then). annablue
Ornithology or Mycology...both subjects have increasingly piqued my interest in the last 10 years. I never really paid much mind to the sciences in high-school but I did go into Horticulture in my mid-20's. I guess I'm drawn to anything nature related. I should have wanted to become an accountant two years earlier than I should have, rather than going into college without any drive to do anything, but just want to become a professional online poker player (what the hell was I thinking back then). An ex-co-worker of mine won 30K doing online poker. I was dumb-founded to hear this was even a thing people did! Dangerous though I imagine.

Kittiara
At one point, I wanted to be a primary school teacher. Unfortunately, life got a bit messy and I ended up working instead of going to university. I'm finally fulfilling my dream of achieving a degree, but by now I wouldn't want to be a teacher, as it seems to have become a paperwork nightmare.I've always loved writing stories and poems and would love to be a novelist. I've published stories and poetry, and have written articles for different publications. Not enough to make a living out of it, though - it will probably remain a hobby. Plus, the threats I received after publishing some political comment pieces were off-putting enough to take a long break from that.

Lio
Historian or archeologist. But I probably wouldn't have the patience to do it. I know someone who studied archeology though, but she had an accident and her back was so messed up she never actually was able to work in archeology. The people I know who studied history, are now teachers or in IT. So I'm kind of glad I didn't choose that in the end. I would like to maybe study it later, when I have the time, just because I'm very interested in it.That said, I've pretty much wanted to become a subtitler since I realized that was actually a job. I have tried other things in my professional life, but always got back into subtitling. I can't really see myself doing anything else anymore. wasted
I always worked in a warehouse or a kitchen and pretty much liked both. Warehouse is just like for dreamers as not difficult. I used to work Saturdays and listen to sports radio all day. I like to work in kitchens as a kp or dishwasher too. Mainly for the atmosphere of a bar restaurant and listen music all day then go after at 1am. You need to be back until 10. Office jobs you get more money but its more bullshit and everyone is a well you know. Its just much more fun in bar or warehouse. I still consider it. I also like how warehouses are like the sets of action movies.

Destiny
Manga artist I've thought about that too! I taught myself to draw and have kept at it since I was about 11.Right now I'm trying to get into a program for Physical Therapy Assistant. I just finished my associates degree in May, finished the last prereq I needed for the program and now have to study for an exam in November.I've been having second thoughts though if this is something I really want to commit to. But I don't know if it's just because I'm being a scared little shit or it's my intuition coming through.I've been in school for what seems like so long that the thought of having an actual adult job kinda terrifies me. I'm afraid the constant 5 days a week, 9 to 5 routine will eventually kill my soul. But I'm fuckin' tired of these mediocore jobs with no benefits, shitty pay and dead end descent.

DieselDaisy
I sometimes feel I would be happier if I ditched the academia stuff in favour of a fisherman or a cook. Those are the two most noblest professions in my view - you might also add a farmer. When I was in high school I had a brief flirtation with the idea of joining the RAF (I was in the ATC and obsessed with World War Two aircraft), rather stupidly really as I detest flying and am afraid of heights!
