FUCKIN TUNE!!!  This is why Biggie was it, the G shit, the player shit, the storytelling shit, the Gambino type shit, he was THE complete gangsta rapper, love this song.  And whats doubley amazing about him was that he always kept it straight, simple, despite complex rhymes and making shit rhyme he didnt talk like a professor like Canibus or rattle like Kendrick, the man was just gorgeous with the flow, undisputed King of New York, got right inside the beat and just rode it, something that Eminem at times is guilty of not doing, not that hes not fantastic but it took until later is his career (post business off the eminem show) that he began to really ride beats instead of rhyme over em, Biggie had that shit nailed since his debut.

I love on Life After Death the trio of Somebody Got to Die, N!ggaz Bleed, and What's Beef. Those three are just maybe the smoothest hardcore gangsta rap you will ever hear.

Two things kill me with hop hop now. First, the fact that the beats sound straight off the pop station. Club, Rhianna type beats, most are bad or sound the same.

Then there's the flow. These rappers don't even try to ride a beat. Even a lot of Eminem's recent shit does it. Rattling, like you said, that's a good word for it. It just loses the whole art of good flow, it's just not smooth at all. Rattling leads to verses and lines not being memorable and rappers losing personality. For all the love for Kendrick, and I'm a fan, his flow isn't even in the same ballpark as Biggie when it comes to smoothness. And Big is dropping just as good of bars too. It's all about riding the beat. Pac wasn't a masterful super mc, but damn, he could put a beat in a head lock.
