I come outside and open it its two tickets to last nights show. She had cloths, booze and already cleared it with my work a day prior for me to come in at noon today cuase she got a hotel room to since we were driving across the state. Surprised the fuck out of me. We showed up just in time to hear Looney Toons. We got 2 beers marched our way to the seats center floor and said F this were getting in he pit. Yup she sweet talked the guy and bam wrist bands were on. Soooo from Estranged on we literally were dead center on the rail. Giving knuckles to Kat and Flebis staring at Tako and holy shit the nightrain horns are loud when your right8in from of them. It was hot a Africa and they Guns were drenched in sweat which if ya ask me resulted in them having to move a lot to try and keep cool. Also made Axl voice loosen up cause he was hitting high and long notes. Its bad ass hearing Slash play Johnny be Good, one of my high lights. Killer videos and photos no clue how to load them. Watching the first 5-6 songs of Miami, he really was sounding a lot better for me ! By November, he'll either be a beast or in need of a LONG rest ! I don't know if I'd describe it as "kicked ass" but I thought her backing vocals were good. Standing in the pit under the speaker array I could hear her clearly in the mix. Adding to my late night, exhausted review from early this morning, I thought Axl was great. I was in Orlando last summer and I thought he sounded a little better overall last night. Yes, his "clean" voice showed up a couple of times but didn't ruin the songs. People complain about RQ but I thought he was at least pretty good when listening at the venue. WTTJ was incredible, Estranged was awesome and I thought Patience was pretty unbelievable. I thought Axl sounded very good on NR as well. The crowd up front was great and fun (I don't know how it was farther back). Most people around me in the pit were into every song, jumping around and singing along. They were even into the CD songs. The interaction from Axl, Duff and Richard was awesome as well. Axl would make eye contact, wave and make funny faces at us. Duff would react to people reacting to his playing. Richard would look at people and smile when they would pump their fist in his direction or clap for him. Hell, even Beta interacted, waving at people when she appeared at the side of the stage before they came out. As far as the standard complaints about all the covers goes, I thought all the covers worked and were fun to experience live. They are playing such a long set now that the covers are almost like extra songs thrown in. With the 5 song encore, having Rosie and Seeker in there is like a normal 3 song encore with some bonuses. Those songs work well to amp the crowd up after the Ballads. I can't imagine them being able to put on a better show. Even if Izzy and Steven showed up, I don't know how much "better" the performance would really be. Last time I saw them in Miami was 12/31/91. Nothing will ever be like it was back then when they were in their prime but this show gave that one a run for its money. That is saying something over 25 years later. I don't think anybody can say that they didn't get their money's worth for their ticket last night. I'd easily pay the same thing again if I knew the show would be on par. Slash broke a string during one of the songs at Marlins Park. I can't remember which song it was. Strangely, he used the same guitar later on another song (which I also don't remember) and they didn't fix it. I guess neither song needed high notes.
