Also there's no guarantee that the stuff Slash would come up with would result in better songs than him working on Axl songs. LTD was the worst album of Slashs career in my opinion. He could maybe use this as an inspiration, I think he already takes pride in turning shit like Silkworms into a listenable song. I would say that all 3 of the original members last albums were the worst of their careers Chinese Democracy Living The Dream Tenderness All pretty terrible

State of Grace All tracks use the previously recorded Axl vocals from 1999/2000 (except ‘Tastes Good’ and ‘Crash Diet’ which use an Axl vocal from the vault recorded back in ‘91 and ‘Rock The Rock’ has the 2017 vocal). Slash and Duff have been in the studio and obviously they play on them. Drum tracks are a mix of old Brain tracks and newer tracks from Frank, except ‘Crash Diet’, that ones got Matt on. So yeah, if this was announced how would you feel? After everyone loving Silkworms I’m generally interested. I don't think I would even listen to it once... 1

What if we're just getting a live album with Absurb and HS as bonus studio tracks? This isn't mygnrCSI level stuff, but here's my case: The soundboard audio of Madagascar (as seen/heard in the Social Media thread) Fernando confirming today that we're getting physical "vinyls" releases (as seen in the litho thread) Years of rumors that a live album / blu-ray is the next release coming What say you mygnr? I could honestly see this being the case. As talented as Axl is we all know he is lazy, insecure about releasing new music and allergic to entering a recording studio. Absurd, with its 20 year old vocal track, just proved all that even more. I would say ‘Absurd’ (and possibly ‘Hard Skool’) are either going to be standalone singles to promote the ongoing tour and to keep older fans interested, or as you say, they will be tacked onto some other release like a live album or a third fucking pressing of Greatest Hits… There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Axl has been near a recording studio for many many years and until I see pictures of it or at least hear HIM say he has been recording then I won’t believe it.

The only thing that worries me and makes the case of a live album plausible is the timing: that they may not want to release a full studio album this year since they won't be able to tour right away. So maybe they'll release a live album now with two new songs just to have something out, and then maybe a studio album in 2022.

I’d love to believe that but I remember when I was a teen and Slash used to talk about the ‘next guns record’ in interviews in ‘93 & ‘94 too. I think he has good intentions and kind of tells the fans what they want to hear. Everything ultimately comes down to Axl with this band. I’m sure they’ve had discussions about a new record but I just honestly don’t believe they’ve been recording one. Obviously I’d love to be proven wrong. (Btw, I doubt they recorded Crash Diet during the UYI sessions - they might have recorded Just Another Sunday, though, which you forgot. You also forgot Cornshucker). But he has KOHD by the CD lineup. So you kind of complete each other.

No, I'm sure Slash and Duff have recorded stuff. Slash said himself he was vague about new music (saying things like "we all want to do it," "we'll see" etc.) before 2019, because they hadn't done anything until then. But after 2019 they've done stuff, and I believe not just two songs. And if they're gonna use already recorded Axl vocals, it doesn't take much to put it together. It's not like they've been trying to make a full album from scratch like in 1994. Edited August 25, 2021 by Blackstar
