Tom-Ass
Not groundbreaking but I like it. I saw people ripping the vocals on facebook comparing to them to Scott but I actually like the vocals.. Cool solo too.. 2
Blackstar
It's likely one of the songs written for the third Velvet Revolver album before and after Weiland was out when they were trying out singers. (It's being also discussed a bit in the last couple of pages of the Matt Sorum book thread: https://www.mygnrforum.com/topic/223066-matt-sorums-autobiography/?do=findComment&comment=4968664 ) I think the vocals are terrible, though. Popular Post GnR Chris
This is Sorum singing? Also, so goddamn funny Slash and Duff keep putting out new music with literally everyone but their main gig. Haha 1 4
Blackstar
The Kings Of Chaos album will be released late next year, so I guess it's not been recorded yet. According the K.O.C. website, current members include Gilby and Sebastian Bach, but they're not on this song. There's a chance that this is not a recent recording (at least as far as Slash, Duff, and Kushner's parts go) and it dates from the late VR sessions - or maybe from around 2013 when both Slash and Duff were involved with Kings Of Chaos. Matt recently signed a deal with a new label (which released the song and will release the album), so maybe this song serves as a kind of promo for both. Hopefully Matt will do an interview and give more details. Edited October 28, 2022 by Blackstar
Nice Boy
It’s the verse vocals that sound a bit rubbish, too corny / clichéd and just not good singing The chorus parts are ok, sound a bit like Scott Weiland, I think a lot of that is just the way it’s been produced though
StrangerInThisTown
Did remind me of VR a lot on first listen
drlaban
Sounds a bit like Axl from time to time.
Sweersa
Not bad, but needs Scott or Axl. Sounds a bit flat from a mix standpoint, but I'm not listening on a great setup at the moment either. Matt's vocals are better than expected, I'll give him that.

Guest
The mix is muddy as fuck, sounds like a VR b side. Towards the end he seems to be doing an attempt at an axl voice. just not for me, wonder if there is or will be a version with baz
grouse
This really sounds like a vr b-side, muddy and a wall of sound. Can't really fault it given the era in which this has undoubtedly originated.
Popular Post Nice Boy
I think it sounds like the kind of thing Axl was trying to steer away from when he diversified with his big UYI songs and CD; i.e. generic, macho, America fuck yeah Rawk music that sounds dated
jimisbatman
Yes, this may never be put on anybodys Playlist in a few years time, however, it's better than Absurd...... 100% better.
Popular Post Blackstar
Matt has confirmed that the song is from the VR days and "has been around for a while": "It's a rock and roll song that I wrote with some old bandmates of mine," Matt said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "It's been around for a little while. I wrote the lyrics and the melody based on sort of my life story. " [...] "This track was my old bandmates Slash and Duff and Dave Kushner from VELVET REVOLVER," Matt added. "And we had this song, and I've always loved this song. And the lyric and the vocal style behind it I kind of based on Lemmy. And the reason I say that is I was driving Lemmy to the Rainbow [in West Hollywood, California] one time, 'cause he never drove; he didn't drive his own car. So I picked him up at his apartment and I had the instrumental track and I played it for Lemmy. So this track has been around for a few years, before Lemmy passed. And I played it for him, and Lemmy goes, 'I wanna sing on that,' which would have been amazing. So when I went to sing the vocal, I'm, like, 'I'm just gonna put the spirit of Lemmy into this and throw down the most gravelly rock and roll vocal I can conjure up." https://blabbermouth.net/news/matt-sorum-wanted-to-put-the-spirit-of-lemmy-into-his-vocal-performance-on-kings-of-chaos-single-judgement-day
Popular Post James Bond
Average song. I would agree with the "VR b-side" criticism. It's not terrible. The vocals are almost unlistenable though. Terrible. Matt sings like Frank drums. 2
Blackstar
So it seems that the instrumental parts date from the VR sessions and the vocals are recent.

Free Bird
Matt's such a great drummer. He should do what he does best instead of embarrassing himself by trying to be a frontman. The instrumental itself is pretty cool actualy.
The Matinator
Bummer to get a VR b-side where the vocals do nothing for me. Probably a good thing they ended the project when they did cuz we could have got a whole album like this.
