A perfect setlist would include 40% Afd/Lies, 30% UYI I + II and 30% CD for me, in regards of original material. ChristmasFnatic
I was thinking of this just a while ago. Make it a 16-20 songs per show like what Aerosmith does, and atleast improve even a bit of his voice. 25-30 songs with Mickey for the most part is just tiring and not as enjoyable.
tsinindy
Or...he could fucking rehearse and get himself in proper shape AND actually fucking care about singing these songs with some level of effort at making them sound good. He just doesn't care. He's not professional. There are plenty of vocalist his age or older who sing similarly difficult songs without difficulty. This is all on Axl, everyone should quit enabling the dude and giving him excuses.
MisterBrownstoner
A full mickey Locomotive and You're Crazy? No Estranged? I get your idea, but i dont agree on those. Also, i would include KOHD, LALD, Sorry, Down on the Farm, So Fine, Used to Love Her and Out Ta Get Me/ My Michelle when the night is good. Also, release another fkn´ record with songs Axl can sing well (a man can dream).
DieselDaisy
His low voice 'cockney' numbers are the easiest to sing, It's so Easy, Bad Obsession, Down on the Farm, Chinese Democracy.

He could use that voice on songs like YCBM if he practiced it or wanted to learn it in a new way that doesn’t sound like crap, but can’t be bothered to.

Exactly, he isn't going to get any better if he doesn't put effort into learning how to use his current voice.
onurbayrak03
He sounded amazing on verses. Raspy mid-range, sounds just like the album. In higher parts he used falsetto, but its ok. This performance is equal to his 2010 level on some parts. Amazing
GonzoThesaurus
you know what disappoints me with Axl, it's like he used to be such a badass. He would talk albout shit like Weinstein back in the day. now he's just a fat sell-out.
Gem Archer
i'm just gonna quote myself from the other thread... finally no more mickey on the verses....i really like this new vocal arrangement...seems now like he's aware of his limitations.. GonzoThesaurus
I honestly think maybe the man just isn't into it anymore. Him and his friends made this thing "Guns n Roses" and made bank off it because they were great rock songs. Clearly these days, the banshee screamer isn't into the songs, so we shouldn't be either. Let it die.

Jordan Rose
On 10/9/2017 at 10:53 PM, Pedrolg said: I'm gonna go ahead and say that, freak incidents such as RIR 2011 (2017 was not much better) and Bridge School, we are currently seeing Axl in the worst vocal shape of his career. In hindsight, so many performances from 2011-2014 were better than the 2017 ones. It has nothing to do with Axl's physical and psychological condition, as he seems happy, into it and in great shape for his age. It is strictly a vocal issue. I'm more and more inclined to think that AC/DC did him in. Things started to go downhill from the second leg with Angus, with the voice cracks starting to appear. The fact that the high raspy shriek he used with AC/DC is clearly shot and gone these days lends credence to this theory. It might be temporary and it might heal with rest, or it might be permanent. In the end, every single specialist who commented on Axl always said that the rasp was unsustainable on the long term, and this right here was probably the reason Axl chose to drop the rasp after 2010, using it just enough here and there to show us he could do it still. Doing it frequently though as he did in 2016 might have wrecked him for good. I wonder how Axl feels about that and the future of his career. Maybe he is just tired and fed up, has no intention of ever releasing anything again and is doing all this as a farewell, burning out what's left of his voice while being fully aware of it. I don't know, his performance and setlist choices point to him knowing very well the state of his voice and limitations, and tbh he doesn't really seem sad or worried. Fucking awesome post, you pretty much summed up the conundrum and all the possibilities. But then in Axl's head he might see things in a way we couldn't possibly imagine. I can't remember exactly when but it was only around 2012 when he said something like "We hope to make music for many years to come." He did have his vocal coach with him during the AC/DC shows and you gotta assume that the guy is telling him the truth and if he was in imminent danger of losing his shit for good he'd know. I'm optimistic he can come back from this like he has so many times before. I mean, when you listen to how pitifully painfully weak he is at the 2002 VMAs who could have possibly guessed what he'd do in 2006-10 and with AC/DC? 19 hours ago, GonzoThesaurus said: you know what disappoints me with Axl, it's like he used to be such a badass. He was still like that in 2002 and along with it we got riots and cancellations and midnight starts and walk-outs. But it's really nuts to me that back then he was rejecting the whole "party, rock n' roll, do cocaine, yeah Axl" mentality of a rock audience and made it clear he wanted to forge a more meaningful career in terms of expressing himself in music.....and all this time later and his favourite thing is singing fucking AC/DC songs. Go figure.

trqster
Axl can still rasp the fuck out of his pipes whenever he feels like it. Unfortunately he doesn't do that very often these days. Great PC!

Yeah he has a little of the 2016 depth back, he still sounds somewhat tired vocally at times, but he has regained some of the vocal sharpness he had last year, its especially noticeable in Nightrain, etc.
Pedrolg
So, let's have a positive discussion here for a change. Are you guys noticing the old mid range trademark Axl voice slipping into his two most recent performances? It`s there on November Rain, throughout Madagascar, and even on songs like Paradise City. Axl's upper range, the AC/DC shriek seems to be a bit tired from the touring, but his lower registers are getting better and better with each show. All I saw from MSG ranged from pretty decent to awesome. Kudos Axl, great to see you still got it after all.
