Tourettes2400
Might be true but he seems to have a huge ego. He also has come off a little bitter when talking about them in the last few interviews I have seen.
AFD5
I'm sure I rember him having a drink & drug addiction to equal Duff & Slash. Apparently he partied just as hard, I'm not sure that would constitute as keeping them together.

Popular Post nikosgnr
Thank you Axl for not bringin' this guy back on this tour. You 're a lifesaver.. Really. Still trying to understand what people like on Sorum.
Popular Post James Bond
I know Matt has always had an ego but based on the thread title and comments I was expecting that to be much more bitter. His infamous "I thought this was a rock band - what's with the piano?" comment is worse than this entire interview. I sensed fondness here. Interesting that he says he doesn't have the desire to be back in "the most dangerous band in the world" and yet I bet he would have happily accepted the job.
FuriousStyles
Nothing he said was really wrong - and he seems to have a great levity about the situation - good for him - considering he was an integral part of the Illusion era

jamillos
I don't see any problem with that article/statement. I remember him saying years ago that when he came in for audition (or maybe having it won), he felt like he entered a junkie den. Which basically was the case, wasn't it. AxlRoseCDII
Even if Frank is an inferior drummer, I prefer him for the fact that he doesn't bitch about playing some of the greatest GNR songs and claiming to keep Guns together. What's next, Chris Pitman claiming he was the reason for the reunion? Brain > Sorum

What's next, Chris Pitman claiming he was the reason for the reunion? Brain > Sorum Well, to his credit, Matt played drums for the band's two biggest albums after AFD and his inclusion did keep the band together, since it forced them to finish writing and recording the songs. Not to mention the tour (and no matter how high he was, he still played perfectly, without any mishaps). Axl used to say he was a breath of fresh air when he joined GNR and Slash and Duff love his playing, so... He has a lot of integrity in that regard. Frank, on the other hand, can't really pride himself on that much, can he? Your comparison with Pitman isn't well-placed, because Matt did keep Guns together and had a huge input in the songwriting and touring, while Pitman was like a bad case of lice.
Billsfan
Could have included sorum in the topic title Anyways I don't see a single thing wrong with anything he said Since he's entitled to his opinion, until he drops "“What’s going on now is great for them, but I was there when it was great too – probably the greatest.” He may be right but that screams butt hurt and jealousy that he's not involved. I guess I can't necessarily blame him, he's a pretty cocky guy and Clearly was under the impression and assumption that if they ever reunited he would be the drummer. They didn't even ask Sorum clearly but Franks been GNRs drummer for 10 years and it's axls call at the end of the day. It just is what it is... 1 hour ago, The Black said: I CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION BY 'WRITING EVERYTHING IN CAPS LOCK'.

Słash
Matt always gets hate regarding his ego, but other members were not saints either and after putting in so much effort and being such a big part of such a big band, anyone would be pissed if you are not invited after so many years even though you played with some of the members since the past 20 years. His drumming style has gotten better and I would prefer him any day over Frank.

thunderram
I don't think Matt really knows how he feels or can make up his mind. In one instance, he takes what seems like a backhanded shot by saying: "Everything was so much different than what I expected. I thought I was walking into a straight-up rock band, a crossbreed of AC/DC and Aerosmith, mixed with the Sex Pistols and Nazareth. Along came pianos and these epic 10-minute opuses. I was surprised." That kinda indicates to me that what the band was currently doing wasn't cool to Matt compared to what they had done before he got the gig. But then he goes on to say: "I was in the most dangerous rock'n'roll band in the world at the time. What’s going on now is great for them, but I was there when it was great too – probably the greatest." So was the piano era the greatest era even though Matt hated it, or was it really the Appetite era before he got there? I don't think Matt can decide.
