Popular Post MillionsOfSpiders
Slash is happy to be back in Guns n Roses, he perhaps thought Axl would never speak to him again and he would never have the opportunity to tour his main accomplishment as a sober person, something he always expressed a deep regret for. He's said he doesn't remember much about the other tours and felt his guitar playing was not as it should have been. I believe he's grabbed his chance now by the scruff of the neck, and is just going to enjoy everything he can about it. He wants to prove he's the best guitarist the band has ever had, playing CD stuff better than anyone will cement that for him. He was so nervous at the start of this tour, but now look at him, the guitar god is back!

D4NNY
Considering two of the guy's from 'CD' era are involved still, I'm sure it just seemed fair to Slash and Duff to keep a few of them songs they helped to record and not just chuck them away for good. Either way, not all fans are too happy about it but I actually really dig the new Better and its great to hear Slash's take on them as we all discussed in the past what Slash would sound like on them or if he could even play them at all

estranged_85
why do some people always think that Axl FORCE everybody to do some things? I truly think that's in the past now.. Edited July 16, 2016 by estranged_85
Billsfan
I think Slash recognizes Chinese democracy for the incredible album it is, and was probably intrigued with wondering what it would be like to play the material. He rejoined guns n roses, which is Axls band, and probably was eased into it a little bit by Duff. Duff said on jerichos podcast a while back that it was cool to learn guns n roses songs he had never been on, and he cited catcher in the rye as something that really moved him. This whole reforming has been a lot of compromise between 3 guys now willing to work together again.. And hey, they could play slither. They brought back coma. Axl Rose is a man of integrity and willing to compromise to make sure everyone is happy, not just him. And it's great to see

It's a give and take to make the thing work for everyone. Besides, Slash gets to play all of his Amazing stuff with Myles and the gang all the time. VR and Slash w/Myles both MUCH BETTER than Chinese Democracy I might add. AL and WOF aren't exactly what I would call "amazing stuff".

I think Anastasia is massively overratee on this board. A great riff (one of Slash's best) but the song goes nowhere and I could do without the mindless noodling. And those lyrics I think AL and WOF are two huge step downs from Slash 2010 album. Boring, bland and predictable songs for the most part. Although I like Wicked Stone, BTSS and Bad Rain. DocArunas
CD is a GNR album, Slash and Duff are in GNR, what's there not to understand about them playing the songs?

Plus the things you mentioned could also be examples of Axl believing his own shit and later changing his opinion/coming to his senses. Slash on the other hand has been caught straight-up and knowingly lying a couple of times (like the time he denied going to Axl's house, before finally admitting it some time later). Yeah those are good points
k12
Axl will announce they are playing Chinese Democracy in its entirety and the Encore is going to be Crash Diet and Sympathy for the Devil and I am sure Slash is going to submit if that is what it is going to take to get back in GNR
Jw224
I'm not going to say how Slash or Duff feel as I'm not them but I think they probably want to play these songs, or compromises were made, they are adults after all.
novemberparadise23
Im thinking that they all sat down and decided what they wanted to play. Axl agreed to play some slash songs like Coma and potentially slither (on the setlist) . Slash agreed to play some CD songs.

Słash
Well why not add some VR songs or Slash's solo songs? some of them are better than the stuff on CD. Now don't give me that bullshit that those songs are not under the GNR name. VR had 3 GNR members and Axl's band had only ONE. Yeah they have Slither on ALT. But songs like Ghost, Anastasia, Crucify the Dead are much better than Sorry and Chinese Democracy

I hope it was that way, that they played it on their own and not getting forced into something. And even if it was that case, i doubt that Slash or Duff would tell that the public ... otherwise the nice peace is over ... Why would men in their 50s, famous, wealthy and independent, would be "forced" to do stuff they don't want to do? 3 hours ago, darkknite63 said: Maybe Slash (and Duff) as a musician actually sees potential in the material, and Axl allowed Slash and Duff to make it their own. The solos are very different and have a more bluesy/hard rock/Slashy feel to them. Slash is a musician hes not a pushover or a pacifier. He would not play something he dislikes just to please some one, he's way to successful and rich just to please a person. And Axl has been heard saying at the Chinese Exchange interviews that Slash and Duff learnt the material on their own with no prodding or reminders. These guys are grown ups they aren't a bunch of nobodies who will do anything to please Axl. They're hugely successful musicians, they play what they want. This ^ Duff and Slash are not kids who need to be told what to do. They are back with Axl and we don't even know if maybe it was Axl who asked them back. There are no "bitches" here. These people created great music together and they need each other to play it, to make it cool for the fans and for themselves. Having them playing CD songs are perks we get, cool things to watch and listen to instead of insulting their personal decisions. 2 hours ago, estranged_85 said: why do some people always think that Axl FORCE everybody to do some things? It is a Guns N Roses record because it was recorded and released under that name. Name which belongs to Axl Rose. Has nothing to do with Slash and Duff because they had quit the band when said album was being written and recorded. You shouldn't disrespect these musicians by calling them "Axl's bitches". Who do you think you are to insult them like that and even order them what to do?
giuls
According to Axl, Slash learnt them on his own and we have no reasons not to believe him, maybe it was a gesture of goodwill, maybe he actually like the songs they're playing. I think some of you are projecting their own dislike of CD on Slash when he never show any indication of hating the album. StrangerInThisTown
I think Slash likes Sorry, simply because it's a slow burning blues, it's the kinda song he wouldn't have problems with recording for GNR, it was the industrial shit that he had problems with.
