W. Axl Rose owns a trademark for "Stay of Execution".

Stay of execution sounds like a name for another residency. He probably came up with it while in Vegas for the last residency.

This is almost certainly it.

'Stay of Execution' is the title of his upcoming book :shades:

omg, i read again... sounds like the name of a company. Maybe his own record label? or a media company?

So Axl can now sue for using his trademarked named? Or he can own up to writing novels haha this is awesome

Saw this on a few other forums, thought it was an April fools joke, did some digging, and found out it's real....

So, what would Axl need a trademark for "Stay of Execution" for? It was filed in June 2014.... Maybe the next album? A new band? A book?

I want to know how this was found in the first place

Probly just somebody looking thru trademarks registered by Axl.

I was wondering that too. I noticed it being talked about on two other forums, I thought it was an April fools joke. I looked into it and it turned out to be true.

I don't see why/how axl would trademark a name for a tour.... You can't directly trademark and album but you can trademark a tour?

We know it has something to do with music.... I'm almost leading towards a new band just because of all the stuff that's been going on over the last year. There were the rumors about Axl retiring and GnR ending, there was the rumor that members were told that their calendars were free of GnR events, the whole bumblefoot being unable to talk about GnR debacle, not to mention the quality of the residency and Axl playing Prostitute, which hadn't been played in years.... What better way to end a band? Then you have the rumors about a reunion.

Axl has been attached to GnR since he's been famous. Everything he releases with GnR will be compared to AFD and UYI. The man's 53 years old, it is possible that he wants to release all the material he has in the vault without having it compared to something that came out 30 years ago...

Then there's the possibility that the label is preventing a record from being released. Axl could release it under a different band name and do it on a different label or independently.

My guess is the most possible from greatest to least is Band name, Album name, Tour name, Record label, nothing. I don't think Axl would get a trademark for no reason.... He does some weird stuff, but I don't see him going through the trouble, especially when he's in the middle of a tour.

I dunno, really, the CD sessions material kinda falls under his grand vision for GnR. I can see him using material like Going Down that

doesn't really fit that mold though or otherwise stuff that isn't as closely connected to it.

As for the "how to find question", go here and search "Axl" with field set to ALL and Any Search Terms, the related searches are kinda funny lol:
