Axl Sued For Sexual Assault

It’s not good, I think it’s been documented that Axl had violent incidents with some women, although this one does sound like a cash grab.  He just better hope that this doesn’t spur more women to come out of the woodwork to talk to the media.

This will cause him to go into hibernation again I think.  I wonder if he knew it was coming.

If he did....Vegas was a last gasp blown out at the weekend then

...very much doubt he thought THIS week! Coming? Yes...as they've been put there in print and TV for a while, these allegations....

Honestly yes I do think some women would. If you're already someone who has a messed up notion of sexuality and boundaries then I think it's possible to rationalise bad behaviour and abuse away in the moment -they don't tend to be people with much sense of agency.

Most rapes and other non consensual acts aren't strangers in a dark alley. They happen within families, relationships, people you already know or hang out with and so on. It's why sexual abuse is so insidious but also incredibly difficult to prosecute in most cases.

Rarely are people perfect victims and they don't always behave in their own best interests. You can probably times that by a lot if you're mixed up in that sort of environment and have a history of abusive relationships. I don't know this woman's history but it's well known that women who end up in porn/nude modelling/the sex trade are usually already fairly messed up in the first place and I wouldn't be shocked if this was the case here.

I think her story in theory could be mostly true, technically a rape and also a crapshoot from a legal perspective.

I see your point.

You have a valid point.

I was looking for Bob Dylan lawsuit AND I didn't find anything

I posted this link earlier about the Bob Dylan case. The woman withdrew the lawsuit (after destroying evidence?) and it was dismissed:

It doesn't excuse any individual case or Axl or any others alleged behaviour but to ponder the thought...if in the times of the 60s/70s/80s all the bad/criminal and chaotic behaviour gets held up and accounted for....the courts would be back-logged until the year 3000. Times have changed, those days were unpoliced and wild....lack of cameras/social media make it's much more a he said/ she said...especially 35 years on...

She said she apologized to her after the fact. He hasn't admitted it publicly.

Then my recollection is weaker than I want to admit. The story always felt real to me. I also think Axl knows and should pay up.

I wouldn't say that Yahoo is right wing. They've had plenty of articles that are liberal and comments from liberals.

Also, I'm seeing plenty of comments on Facebook with articles about this. Again, majority is favoring Axl and questioning why this has been brought up after 34 years.

It's pretty well known, just like Facebook being full of boomers. The most viewed Facebook videos are all right wing media (source).

Try any Yahoo article about MeToo, and tell me how supportive the comments are.

This story was first mentioned in 2016 (it wasn't known before and no one had said anything) when she released her book and did a promo interview for it in The Daily Mail. The excerpt from her book is on page 2 of this thread where she said Axl apologized to her after it happened. There wasn't any reaction from Axl when the Daily Mail interview was published.

Duff and his faux feminism because apparently its only cool to care about women after you've had daughters and it affects you personally

I don't think that's fair to Duff. Having daughters changing his perspective doesn't mean he didn't care about women before that. I always thought he seemed like the most mature and well adjusted member of the band.

I truly do not want to sound mean, but it is so annoying that men only want to be a champion of women's rights after they have daughters and it affects them personally. I don't think Duff was or is a bad dude by any means, he is probably the least scummy one out of the band. But why is it a man's perspective only changes so much after he has daughters? Why couldn't he just feel that way to begin with? I'm saying that for men in general

I'm pretty certain it was a double-page spread in the Sun newspaper too.

Yes, I'm sure. I haven't found anything about it before 2016. But it's been shared a few times after 2016, especially when "Little Michelle"'s claims were discussed.

Ok. That might be where I heard it. I love Axl dearly. Nothing will ever change my mind about him in a negative light.

I'm reading this right now. There are plenty of comments from  liberals and conservatives in all the articles. Additionally, if you are using the word boomer then you are being a hypocrite.

I don't want to derail this thread. I'm just going to say have a good night!

Are people not allowed to gain perspective as they get older and wiser? Are they not allowed to change without it being deemed “fake”? I’m so tired of presentism exhibited by so many people today. It’s fuckin’ ridiculous. The world was different 20 years back, 30 years back, 40 years back.

I don't want to derail this thread, of course people's perspectives can change. I can also say its annoying to live my life and have my experiences as a woman, speaking about what we go through just for the majority of men to disagree with what we say and act as if we overreact to everything, only to turn around and agree the world is a shitty place for woman after they have daughters of their own.
