It's one of my favorite GN'R tunes but he'd struggle with SOD even when he had an ABSURD vocal range (pun intended). I'm not a professional, but to my ears, Street of Dreams is a harder song to sing than This I Love and Axl struggled with that in recent years before it was dropped all together. The clean voice suits this song Don't think so mate, the problem on SOD isn't actually the tone, it's the incredibly high and long notes in the last section, and the use of his mid range which has always been hard for him on the verses.
