k12 Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Does anyone know if they sold lithographs at the merch stand outside the show, and if so what time it opens Quote

Popular Post gnr1967 Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 Just got back from Hershey. Better than the last time they were in Hershey imo, even though I was hoping to see Perhaps. Axl was in a phenomenal mood- cracking jokes, interacting with the crowd, joking with the band. I also have to say they pulled off Slither pretty good. Not as much Mickey this time around - Axl sounded pretty fresh. The rest of the band was awesome too. Got the Hershey lithograph and the North American Tour lithograph as well. Got tickets to Pittsburgh next week - hopefully I'll see Perhaps but who knows! 5 Quote

Popular Post Estranged Reality Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 Hershey 2021 was kind of rough in all honesty. I could tell Axl was trying but he was having some difficulties that evening, the sound mix at the stadium was really bad (I could barely hear any of Slash's solos from the pit), and it was the shortest gig I had ever been to -- they didn't even come out and do a bow at the end -- which made it really feel sort of strange. Tonight was a total 180. i think the venue itself inherently has some sound issues, at least for the pit -- there were still times I felt like Slash was getting drowned out in the mix -- but man, this was possibly the best show I've been to (admittedly I've only been to a handful of shows since 2016). I'm not sure if it was to make amends for last time or what, but he was like a man possessed and there were flashes of the old Axl with banter between songs and crowd interaction in a way I haven't really seen much in the past few years. He just seemed like he was really into it. Vocally I felt like he's got a better handle on switching between the low register and falsetto and some songs -- like the outro of Patience -- were surprisingly solid. They played for over 3 hours which was also pretty rad. When they came out for the encore with Coma I was kind of in disbelief lol. And Axl nailed it. Sounded pretty damn good. I'm a little sad I still haven't gotten a chance to see my favorite Chidem song (The Blues) but I got a few songs I'd never heard before like Bad Obsession and Down on the Farm so I guess I can't complain. I'm still buzzing a couple hours later. Great, great show. 14 Quote

BTW, I know links aren't allowed to be posted, but I am in the process of uploading videos from the concert to my YouTube channel which is "johnulcer"' in case anyone cares to check them out. I got ChiDem, Madagascar, and a few others. I agree this was much better than the last Hershey show. I was fortunate enough to be in the pit this year too. Axl was so interactive with the crowd this time around. Cracking jokes and just having a good time. He also seemed to be in better control of his voice too. I was glad to hear Hard Skool, Slither, and some Chinese Democracy songs too. He also pulled off Witchita Lineman pretty good - better than when I saw them in Columbus. (Though the overall sound quality of an indoor arena like Columbus blows the acoustics at Hershey away imo - love seeing GNR indoors). Hoping I'll hear some new music when I see them in Pittsburgh but not holding my breath - but it'll be great to see them again soon. Edited August 12, 2023 by gnr1967 5 Quote

I think he’s in good shape, not making fun of his weight. Just something feels really bizarre about this photo. 1 Quote

Axl has a very warm-toned complexion, while the lighting is the opposite (very cool toned) which clashes. The deep blue lights + low-quality of the photo are washing him out and making everything look flat. You can't see the countures of his face or arms, so things look a little off Edited August 12, 2023 by meadsoap 3 Quote

The first thing that comes to my mind is him playing in AC/DC wearing the bandana, flannel and in the boot. It's shocking to go back and see what he looked like. He sounded great, though. I wonder how he would've sounded if he was in shape... 👀 Quote

Axl just has short hair with bangs (though it's pretty thin in places). I think it's working for Axl just fine. It's the best his hair can do at this point. His long hair looked frizzy/fried while the length emphasized how thin it is. That was way more unflattering. Imo everything about Axl's appearance has improved compared to the beginning of the reunion. Edited August 12, 2023 by meadsoap 2 Quote

There were a lot of younger people there who couldn't take the standing in the front rows soo took breaks by sitting down. 1 Quote
DSTK Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 How was Madagascar? Surprised they threw that one in , great live track when it was regularly there Quote

Always one of my favorites, haven't heard it in over a decade and was a total surprise Axl sounded great on it too. Honestly it blows my mind it isn't a setlist staple. Axl kills it and it's just a great song. More relevant than ever too. 1 2 Quote
