For a band to use pyrotechnics, you need pyrotechnic experts. There aren't alot of those experts available to commit to having people travel the world with an artist or a band as part of the traveling crew.

The other issue is having access to the pyrotechnics explosives themselves.

You don't travel the world with explosives in the luggage hold of the plane you are traveling around the world on or on the tour bus.

Commonly the company responsibile for pyrotechnics services will be responsible for sourcing the pyro and it's transportation locally or internationally.

With high transport costs and inflation, it's not cost effective to have pyro as part of your stage production.

The tour promotor is responsible for those costs, not the band or artist and that expensive is factored in when the booking agent is dealing with the promotor.

A band will have a small group of experts traveling with them as lightning, stage techs, FOH techs, monitor techs etc.

Those people are joined by local contractors to rig the stage, the lights and PA etc.

Those costs are all covered by the tour promotor who factors those costs into ticket prices to recover the cost of the investment.

Taylor Swifts ticket prices are so high, because each promotor is looking to recover the cost or paying for her production and the entourage she travels with.

That's interesting thanks. Ties in with the articles I posted earlier about the industry as a whole trying to improve their carbon footprint/climate ethics etc.

Not using pyro in most shows is probably an easy win on that score. People might slightly miss it but not by much.

Not saying it's not fitting when Metallica blasts off flames during Fuel.

But pyro and stuff puts your band on a level of silly.

If Neil Young doesn't do it, then neither should you. Rule of thumb in the world of rock and roll.

i'm glad rammstein dont follow that neil young rule

Not sure if that’s a shadow on her neck or she’s pulled a face mask down-could be covid related? There’s a bit of distance between dizzy.

It's obviously a mask, I'd guess she pulled it down for a quick snapshot and that's it. Let's hope all goes well for everybody and they don't have to cancel anything, if it spreads.

Judging by that pic, it doesn't look like Melissa really wants to be in the band..

Even last year she wasn't as energetic as before. If she doesn't want to be there then she should just leave, and they should get someone else who will be more excited about being there. Honestly at this point she looks kind of out of place.

A mask in 2023? Grow up. What an typically holier than thou Californian approach to take towards life. Like a cold is going to do her any harm, and like that piece of paper on her face is going to do any good from protecting her from one.

It might be Glastonbury rules. Maybe they make all artists and crew test - a lot of money is at stake if the talent get ill.
