Popular Post GNR 1991
He just retweeted this from Spin. Apparently he wrote a response letter to them about making him number 1 on their greatest vocal ranges list recently. Here's his letter:Big thanks to all the fans and media for the props reacting to the Spin top vocalists article. From what I could tell, the original article was for the most part only talking about the professionally recorded vocal range of the singers they compared calling the entire group "The World's Greatest Singers." It's very flattering and humbling to be included in such an illustrious ensemble. If I had to say who I thought the best singers were, I'd say first that I don't know there's a definitive answer as in my opinion it's subjective, and second that my focus is primarily rock singers. That said, I enjoy Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Dan McCafferty, Janice Joplin, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Don Henley, Jeff Lynne, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Scott, Etta James, Fiona Apple, Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and a ton of others (predominantly 70's rock singers) and would rather hear ANY of them anytime rather than me!Peace!Axl

Bruno P.
Great from Axl. He seems to be a pretty decent fella but gets too much shit from the media and fans. Fellow musicians and critics seem to respect him a lot more than we do. That being said, artistically he's probably done, but it doesnt matter because he seems to be in a good mood and looks less bloated.Nice to see he listed Freddie first. I kinda knew he'd list him first but why no Plant? Edited May 28, 2014 by Bruno P.

IncitingChaos
Glad he mentioned Janice Joplin! I can see where she has influenced Axl with her raspier voice and how she and Axl seem to sing inbetween verses in a way that connects the song.
Gordon Comstock
For someone who gets his name misspelled often he probably should have checked Janis Joplin Cool that he responded tho

Amir
Jeff Lynne, yay! Shame him and Axl never collaborated on anything. Wonder what Axl thought of Etta James' cover of WTTJ?Was listening to this by Janis recently and thought of her influence on Axl: Was never sure if Axl dug MJ or not, good to hear him give him some recognition. Laparka
He probably does not Like Led Zep that much. I mean, he did not even include Gillan or some of his favourite bands like Rose Tatoo. His last sentence is indeed funny and can apply to a lot of singers I guess.
