The "New Album" Thread . The maybe, possibly, at some point, soon, whenever, wtf Axl thread🤞

Recommended Posts

Everywhere one looks, it's the same pile of pretty cool songs over & over & over again.  Thirty years, one album, and three (OMG '99, Absurd, Hardschool) singles officially released.

My Bloody Valentine is more prolific than this band!:P:lol:

Glad someone sees the truth.

It's good news JohnnyK.  Slash has confirmed they are releasing 'the songs Axl had lying around'.

Now everyone is gonna see exactly what those songs are.

I think (or hope) it’s somewhere in the middle. There is probably a lot less in the “vault” than a lot of posters hope for. I don’t think there is necessarily another 2 albums of near finished ready to go. 2019 was both incredible and underwhelming at the same time in typical GNR fashion. We finally got to hear what all of these songs sound like, but with the asterisk being most didn’t have vocals or were rough demos. Or in the case of The General, was a barely audible snippet of the song. We do know Axl obviously did more work after 2000. As Pele said, the album is proof. How much more? We don’t know, and the Village Sessions can’t answer that question.

I don’t think it’s a stretch that there are a few more surprises left behind the scenes. The instrumentals are the best of The Village Sessions and we know a lot of those became more fleshed out based on the album. Shacklers is way more unfinished than some songs like Zodiac and Oklahoma. We know The General has vocals, why can’t a few others we aren’t sure of?

I agree with you. As an example, wasn't the existence of Scraped completely unknown until it came out? It wouldn't be on any of our lists as a possible new song from the vault if it hadn't been included on CD. If that had happened Pele would still say the same he's saying now there's only Atlas/Perhaps etc. It's proof that not everything that exists is even from the village sessions. So there we already have an example of how it's possible that songs we just don't even know of exist, and that we don't have the whole picture.

We're about to get the full picture.

Let's all see if they are exactly the ones I've been saying they'll be.

If (big if) the skeptics are right and Axl never finished vocals for Elvis/Oklahoma/Zodiac he should give up the rights and let someone else use them. Those instrumentals are too good to be collecting dust for decades because he's too lazy to finish them.

Bucketheads put over 200 albums out - there are several of these instrumentals out there.  The ones he submitted were just a few of thousands.

Exactly this and this is why I honestly don't think Pele can be so certain of his list. There was zero mention of the title of Scraped by any band member, nor any allusion to lyrical content.

This comment is slightly misleading IMO. To be completely clear, he isn't saying they are releasing all the songs Axl has lying around so I wouldn't look at this as an exhaustive clear-out of the vault.

I always have assumed that Lies They Tell is a Constanzo/Rose song from the last minute. Yeah, it seems like an instrumental made by various Bucket pieces but the vocals and so are from 2004/2005... and that's it.

"Fresh brand new track" to be included replacing The General or any other A-type song.

I assumed Light My Fire is a cover, of The Doors song.

I could be wrong though. Sixx: A.M. has a song called Oh My God, but it's not the GN'R song.

Yes.

I don't know. I really think that Oklahoma/Berlin are now called Monstrocity.

And Moustache is TOO good and too beautiful not to be used by Rose and his band called "The Guns and The Roses".

If you say so...

I really like the Freese version.

By 2001, that instrumental was way too "electronic" for my taste.

I loooove Robin's solo. I hate thinking about the eventual state of this song with the current lineup.

Anyway, I really think that a new album will be dropping soon on our iTunes account.

Between Cuban skies and Pele this forum has gone quite mad.

It's like 2 bots repeatedly posting their nonsense.

This is what happens when a brand, er, band, releases only one album and three singles over the past twenty-five years.

What else is there?  People thinking they're going to actually release two or three singles this year in addition to the UYI box?

The only hope I have is that they operate so weirdly that it wouldn't surprise me if they did put both out. Or nothing at all. Anything could happen it seems with this brand... Er, band.
