If we're including live covers: Wichita Lineman has been one of their best songs for years now. I Feel Good was a fun one. Marseilles has always been underrated, though they only played it a few times. Dead Flowers from '93. KOHD was great in '87-88 and 2002. Its Alright was a surprise when I heard it on Live Era, I didn’t know they covered it during the tour. It was a nice version. Nice Boy Posted January 17, 2023 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Nice Boys, Jumpin Jack, Mama Kin, Hair of the Dog, It’s alright KOHD in its 80s live performance, also the semi acoustic one at Saskatoon 93 is probably the best ever version tbh Not into Live n Let Die, I get where they were coming from with the whole dog eat dog, individualistic struggle to survive in a city full of sharks thing with WTTJ but whereas that song seemed to reflect and document that atmosphere, LALD seemed more of an endorsement of it, the lyrics are on a kinda only think for yourself, fuck everyone else vibe which is not a good philosophy ultimately It feels a bit like the transition NWA made from their early track Dopeman which reflected the scourge of crack cocaine dealing in the ghetto, to a whole ethos of glorifying being a violent money grabbing gangster.. the portrayals went from documenting and unseen side of life in the city i.e. ‘this is what it’s like here’ to ‘this is what we do and it’s cool yeah’ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
