I think the most likely scenario is that it's a snippet of a different take from Robin. The last note sustains, so it obviously cannot be the exact same take as the demo solo. But the tone is the same as the demo and is clearly different from Slash's tone, so chances are it is Robin.

The real mystery is whether it was intentional or not.

I don't think of it as much of a mistery.

Robin didn't got a credit (unlike Brain). I'll take that as lazy editing.

I personally have no problem with the transition. My main problem is that the solo ends when it should pick up intensity and speed.

I like the Robin and Slash transition. I agree, wish Slash ignited in the second half of his solo but it kind of fizzles

Are we sure it's Bucket though? With Richard's kill-switch guitars I'm certain he could've just done that or it could even be Melissa's synth.

It could be, but it sounds exactly like the BBF demo. And it doesn’t sound like Richard’s killswitch, albeit he could’ve went an extra mile and mimic Bucket’s tone.

Some pretty good thoughts/reviews out there for the usually anti Guns critics....all fairly positive. Hopefully makes them happier to dump the rest of Atlas, State on us sooner rather than later...

I guess they like the more mature production. God knows what they'll think of The General! Hope it's a crazy monster!

I wonder if Robins solo was left in just so Robin could get writing credit. Maybe Axl viewed him as integral to the song.

No, it's absolutely not necessary to have his guitar on the song in order to be able to give him writing credit (if he has helped in writing the song).

I put the song on for the first time in 4 or 5 days and honestly the Robin solo bit really doesn't bother me or stand out - I always thought it stuck out like a sore thumb in the phone recordings from the jukebox prior to the actual release but hearing it on headphones it sounds okay to me overall

Sounds really cool on the final version, actually. Wish the second half of Slash’s solo was a bit better though. I look forward to the Slash pick slide-Robin bend- Slash bend part. Pretty cool

No, that’s not a mystery. Yes, it was intentional.

What makes you say that?

I wonder if Robins solo was left in just so Robin could get writing credit. Maybe Axl viewed him as integral to the song. It was 100% intentional though- suggesting it was a mistake or lazy editing makes no sense. Dozens of people check and listen to this before release. Frequently.

And all of those people could very well have assumed it was an intentional choice by Axl or Costanzo. Not to mention, with Axl's love of layering, it's not hard to believe that somebody would assume a small seemingly unnecessary part was actually part of Axl's master plan somehow.

Weren't there also some mistakes present in Chinese Democracy?

Didn't come up in search but sorry if it has been asked. I tried to order the vinyl, ball and hardskool vinyl but says it isn't available for my address in Australia. The locked and loaded box sure did when I got it expensively at pre-order
