A Line or Three in a Song Where You Really Like Axl's Voice

Recommended Posts

On an ordinary day

Not in an ordinary way

All at once the song I heard

No longer would it play

For anybody

Or anyone

That needed comfort from somebody

Needed comfort from someone

Who cared to be

Not like you

And unlike me

And then the voices went away

From me

Somehow you set the wheels in motion

That haunt our memories

You were the instrument

You were the one

How a body took a body

You gave that boy a gun

You took our innocence

Behind our stares

Sometimes the only thing we counted on

When no-one else was there

That's my favorite part of my least favorite song on CD. I've actually listened to that song just to get to that part before.

I always loved the bit where he comes in on 14 Years.

Abso-fucking-utely

The end of Coma is full of them, as is the second half of YCBM. I really like the "children hiding in a closet" part in Breakdown. End of Civil War is great too.

I really like his voice on Angel Down. In those couple of lines he sounds more like Axl Rose than on anything he sang on CD.

That's just a complete mindfuck as far as I'm concerned.

"Peeling the layers of emotions away" is one of the best Axl vocal lines I've ever heard. He sounds insanely good on his few lines on Stuck Inside.

He's a goddamn beast on Stuck Inside. Especially when he's humming the melody aggressively at the end. The scream is badass too. Could very well be the best he's ever sounded.

I always liked:

"So many seem so lonely with no one left to cry to baby". He really kicks it up a notch. That whole end part of Coma is amazing as well.

From Stuck inside (Bach's song):

"Peeling the layers of emotion aside."

The ending part of CITR.

And from Coma

"And I wish that I could help you

With what you hope to find
But I'm still out here waiting
Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
Know it's gonna take some time
To heal those broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive"
And from OMG
"Oh my god
I can't deny this
I've been taught just to murder and fight this
To bury it deeper where no one can find it
Cuz nobody wouldn't know
Ooh, if it opens your eyes
This is better than a good compromise
I was willing to be lost in the shuffle
If only you had let me know"

"Welcome to the Jungle, it gets worse here everyday"

On the record, I think it's got a much better flow than any live version I've heard where he tends to do:

"Welcome to the Jungle (breath) gets worse here everyday"

It doesn't quite have the same sense of groove and menace...

"Don't need your religion/Don't watch that much tv/Just makin' my livin', baby/Well, that's enough for me..."

"Like the tide down on the ocean/The waves already set in motion/The only one in this game that's lost is you."

"On a Saturday night, night, night" and "I got nasty, nasty habits...and that's all she's gonna get..." from that Skid Row cover.

But who am I to tell you that I've seen

Any reason why you should stay

Maybe we'd be better off without you any way

Jungle - after "You're gonna die!" towards the end

YCBM

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side

When I find out all the reasons

Maybe I'll find another way, find another day

With all the changing seasons of my life

Maybe I'll get it right next time

I see the storm getting closer

And the waves they get so high

You know you're all alone

Your friends they aren't at home

Everybody's gone to the garden

You've got all the answers

You know everything

Why nobody asked you

It's a mystery to me

And it seems that I

Gave up my ghost of pride

I'll never say goodbye

Axl's voice was so sick.

You're Crazy(Lies version) all of it.

I see your sister in her Sunday dress

But it's been fourteen years of silence it's been fourteen years of pain

Double talkin jive get the money motherfucker cause I got no more patience

Agree with everything. Came here to post that line from Stuck Inside.

Damn it, Now I'm pissed off that CD is filled with "nanalaladadas" and wimpy songs instead of stuff like his Angel Down contributions. Fucking Axl learn how to prioritize.

TWAT:

"It was a bargain for the summer and i thought I had it all.

I was the one who gave you everything."

The way he sings it (the lowering of notes, especially on "for the summer) just makes it sound so sad and I love it

I also like his voice on the demos of the title track (where his harmonies are mostly not there). The way he sings the verses has a sarcastic quality to it (which he has never sang the same way live ever), and the chorus sounds so angry
