Mendez
Whatchu Thinkin is probably my favorite song on the album, albeit with a dissapointing guitar solo. Anthonys vocal melody sounds fantastic all over. The verse melody on The Heavy Wing is great as well. Chorus is great The album definitely picks up after the first 5 songs. The first 5 songs seemed like they were just kinda jamming for the sake of jamming.

I also agree the best songs are in the middle of the album - although i am a big fan of here everafter.
EvanG
In Total Guitar John says that he's playing more minimalistic on the record to let the others guys shine more. He also said that they left some of the best songs off and might release them on the next record. 2

Lies They Tell
The new album was a bit disappointing for sure! The songs sound like filler material from Stadium Arcadium. For me the standouts are Black Summer and These Are The Ways. But even those are nothing compared to the classics that they have written throughout the years.

Nicklord
RHCP always records a shitton for their albums. Just for from the Stadium Arcadium sessions we got 37 and we know some more exist. I'm With You sessions also had 30 songs released and there are also some named songs that didn't get out. They had a scrapped album between BTW and SA that we got bits and pieces several years ago... All in all, RHCP doesn't release albums often but when they start recording they record a lot. I think somebody from the band said (maybe Anthony in Scar Tissue? don't know) that they stop recording when the songs start to sound bad, not when they have enough for an album
Jakey Styley
I’ve now listened to all 4 Rick Rubin interviews with the band members. Surprisingly, Chad Smiths interview might’ve been the most interesting. I definitely recommend throwing them on at least as background noise. I’ll try and do a song tier list today
Jakey Styley
Great songs: Songs I will intentionally listen to for a long time 1) White Braids & Pillow Chair 2) Shes a Lover 3) The Heavy Wing 4) Its only Natural 5) Bastards of Light Pretty Good Songs: Will throw on for some time 6) Veronica (anyone peep that She's So Heavy chord progression in the outro?) 7) Here Ever After - This song doesn't hit hard for me, but the band sounds so at ease in this song that it makes me feel good 8) Not the One - I actually love the instrumentation of this song, especially Flea's bassline at the end, which fun fact was supposed to be the vocal melody 9) One Way Traffic - yeah yeah it's a dumb song. This might not last. Alright Songs: Never going to throw on, but not skipping 10) Black Summer - Might be higher if not for Anthony's folk accent 11) Whatchu Thinkin - like John's guitar parts, not much else 12) Poster Child - Way too long, and RHCP has done this song 1 if not 2 times already but better (Walkabout comes to mind) 13) Aquatic Mouth Dance - This would be a great live jam. I want to like it more. Bad songs: Will likely skip 14) The Great Apes - Some cool parts, don't like the verses, a bit simplistic or something 15) These Are the Ways - Anthony terrible 16) Let 'Em Cry 17) Tangelo Edited April 22, 2022 by Jakey Styley
Gordon Comstock
They really should've included this song on the album.
DK6
Good songs Here ever after It's only natural Whatchu Thinkin Bastards of light White braids and pillow chair She's a lover Nerve Flip Pretty Good Songs Black summer Aquatic mouth dance The heavy wing Alright Songs Tangelo The great apes Let em cry Poster child Not so good Veronica One way traffic Not the one These are the ways On another note I feel as though JFs guitar style has changed from a strong, muscular style to an almost apologetic style. Cosmo
Fantano put out his review of the album. Agree with some points, especially about Kieidis. But disagree with others. I'd might give it a 5.5/10 though. Edited May 4, 2022 by Cosmo

rocknroll41
TATW has been growing on me again. I think it’s just the “the smells” part that I don’t like lol.

And the drums are great.

Nicklord
It's really his worst moment on the album. It's there with Detroit from The Getaway: Henry won the war you see But not with pen or sword He did it with the little thing I think it's called a Ford Edited May 8, 2022 by Nicklord

rocknroll41
I recently revised my RHCP Top 10 list and three songs from UL made the cut: 1.UNDER THE BRIDGE One of the greatest guitar intro riffs of all time. 2.SCAR TISSUE The best example of John’s “low notes mixed with high notes” technique. 3.HERE EVERE AFTER This song really gets me going in the morning. 4.WATCHU THINKIN This song is very nostalgic for me in a “daytime” sorta way. 5.WHITE BRAIDS & PILLOW CHAIR Love the harmonies and the “western” style. Plus, I figured I should include at least one song where they say California. 6.BY THE WAY One of the best examples of how unique and important John and Flea’s chemistry is. 7.MINOR THING One of my favorite guitar solos (despite how simple it actually is). 8.THE ZEPHYR SONG This song is very nostalgic for me in a “nighttime” sorta way. 9.DEATH OF A MARTIAN Anthony’s best work as a lyricist, and John’s best work as a backing singer. 10.TURN IT AGAIN John’s best work as a guitarist. I wanted to include stuff from the other guitarists, but sadly there just wasn’t room.
axl666
Are they playing anything from one hot minute or the getaway on the current tour? Edited May 17, 2022 by axl666
EvanG
Tour hasn't started yet, so impossible to know, but I hope they do, and also some songs from I'm With You, but I very much doubt it.

Frusciante never played anything from Dave, only Flea may play Pea sometimes and it seems John is not acknowledging anything that Josh did in the interviews so far so I don't think they'll play those. It's really going to be 0-2 Hillel songs + 16-18 Frusciante tracks depending on the night
