GNR 1991
@RussTCB Would you mind changing the topic title to "HOUSE OF BLUES 2001"? "Las Vegas 2001" is too vague, as they played three different shows in Vegas that year.

WhazUp
It is cool this is finally out after all of these years. It had this mythical kind of vibe to it, and it is surreal that these things are actually coming out

Stro
Interesting, Robin plays the chunky funky bit in the hook of OMG, sounds pretty much exactly the same on the new OMG leak.

IncitingChaos
Imagine this band got its shit together and released CD as a trilogy in 2004. 36 tracks, 3 album covers, and completely put Contraband to shame! In an alternate world I hope that was Axl’s dream.
Popular Post fernomenoyde
I'm so happy this is finally out!! All of it!! This show for me is like a dream coming true and a cold water bucket. I still can't understand what happened around that era. It was PERFECT for 2001-2002-2003-2004 and so on. Industrial rock was on every movie soundtrack, there was also this kind of hard electronic bands like The Prodigy and KMFDM was evolving and sounding amazing. So, it was really the timing for putting Chinese Democracy out there, with this band. We could also been able to see three records on that very same decade. So, what the hell happened??? I mean, it's refreshing even today, 17 years later!!! Imagine 2001 with Rock In Rio, Chinese Democracy released and then this show as a DVD and live album!!! Then another record released on 2003 and maybe other around 2006. What a waste!!! The show is amazing in many ways: it shows us how the band sounded right after all the "rumours era" but, mostly, a very deeply touched Axl, happy and sad at the same time, with some anger being exorcised on the stage. It is explosive my friends, just explosive! Edited June 11, 2018 by fernomenoyde 4 1
Gordon Comstock
Great to finally see this show after all this time. The 'welcome back' chant before Patience was very cool. OMG was vocally not great but the band sounded tight. Jungle, LALD and Street of Dreams are the highlights, IMO. Surprisingly, Silkworms was also a highlight. James Bond
So who slept with the key holder to the vaults? Lots of shit since last night! Looking forward to giving this a watch after all these years.
NeonKinight
I think axl in fact made surgeries on his voice in the late 2000. You can notice that troughout the show that only in the long notes n' screams he kinda..."reaches" his raspy voice. btw, worst november rain solos ever. colonizedmind
"Welcome back" chant pre Patience into the start of the song, shows Axl is genuinely emotional and hearten by the response...He must of missed it. I think he really did suffer a major emotional break down in the mid 90s when everyone was abandoning ship ...Crisis of confidence. It meant a lot to him and on one close up, can see a small tear appear in his eye at start of Patience...
Jordan Rose
I really don't understand why this was a holy grail for many people. We had a decent audio boot of it from right after the show and as far as the band and Axl's vocals go it's so similar to Rio 3 that I don't see the big deal. They didn't even play Madagascar. And it's podgy Rio 3 Axl. Surely it'd be way more awesome just to have audio from the 29th and 31st December 2001 when Axl looked like THIS and he'd got his touring legs and voice back under him through 2002, had trimmed down to Illusions shape, was looking really confident again and they played Madagascar at both shows! AS far as i'm aware there isn't a single bit of audio from either December show, nevermind video.

MistaBrownstone
I think my favorite part was during Axl's little speech about the Dalai Lama, right at the part he talks about the people who were killed helping him, the one guy in the audience shouting "don't kill us Axl." Icing on the cake.

Swedish
Holy shit! I've been wanting to see this show for years! Ever since I heard the audio I've been wanting to know how it actually looked, it's about as cool as I imagined!
