IMO, both are pretty good metaphors about people and/or countries selling war and profiting from both sides. And with absolutely no regrets about it. It's not that hard to figure out that the thing is the disregard about people's lives. I don't think the Confederate jacket got used because it was just a war symbol. I agree with most of what you said, besides the "unbiased sources". There's no such a thing. Who they chose to talk to, the order, the questions and even the choice of quotes are all biased. We're not robots, that should be expected. There is, however, credible and fact-checked/sourced journalism. The best way is to keep that in mind, read/watch content from those media sources, and try to make it up on your own. So yeah, news TV are not the best, but there's a huge difference between Fox News (pretty much just PR) and the others. Problem with the the big news channels is someone owns them, and that someone has a political leaning and they put their spin on things. But I agree, I didn't really mean one source though more like a combination of sources giving factual information and critiquing what the main shows are doing and saying. I know a lot of the alt media has a slant towards left or right, but you can tune in your news to your liking, a bit here a bit there! OR just watch Alex Jones... I love my new water filter 😋🤣

What next, if tv in the US does any reruns of the dukes of hazzard they will have to censor the confederate flag off the General Lee?. The Dukes of Hazard has already been banned from reruns because of the car.......so yeah they will have to blur it out to get back on tv. They do have on the media editorial position. It's not the same thing, though. IMO, the best scenario (like tech sites owned by mobile operators such as Verizon) is when the news not only tell the story, but they make it clear if any affiliation should be disclaimed. What next, if tv in the US does any reruns of the dukes of hazzard they will have to censor the confederate flag off the General Lee?. Yes, like I said, at that time the confederate flag was largely decontextualized, and it was trivialized, like in The Dukes of Hazzard, as an innocent symbol of "southern pride" and southern culture as well as a of a positive and appealing (to a portion of society) representation of "outlawism". At least that was how it was perceived internationally, but probably even in the U.S. many people didn't know about its association with the KKK and white supremacy. Having said that, I remember watching The Dukes as a kid and loving it. Being curious, I went to read who General Lee was (as expected, we weren't taught much of U.S. history in Greece) and, even though I didn't know anything else about the flag then, I did wonder, in my child mind, why Bo and Luke took pride of a general who fought for maintaining slavery. If the summary of the contemporary criticism in the beginning of this article is accurate, at the time the show was criticized for everything else except the flag: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dukes-hazzard-stars-john-schneider-tom-wopat-respond-controversy-cars-confederate-flag-1302105 Edited July 8, 2020 by Blackstar 1

Here in oz the flag as was the car, was a token of rebelious and outlawism. The show was huge . No one thought twice about the history.

Tom2112
One thing is for certain this face mask issue and the handling of it has really divided people. I mean we're talking about wearing a bloody face mask here!!! 🤣 Why is it so controversial? If they came out and said, from this day forth every citizen has to wear a numbered suit and be chipped this response would be justified. People are crazy! It's not a left or right issue, it's a health issue! so park the politics! Statistics show that masks help prevent the spread - we want concerts, we want sports, We want travel, we want regular shopping and normal life to resume! all of that comes with suppressing the virus! no masks means the above doesn't happen for a much, much longer time and possibly thousands more people die for no good reason! Also, also!!!! the GNR album is being held up

Progress can't be made if people are allowed to do whatever they want. There is no vaccine and there is no medication right now. Those people are making things worst. They wanna go to the beach or go to a bar? Fine, but keep some distance and wear a mask. soon
Just now, Gibsonfender2323 said: How about Antifa, Brownshirts, The mobs destroying American cities and monuments? Whataboutism. You've instantly abandoned the point you made which is that "The right agrees to disagree with the left." That is not a defendable position so you move on to whataboutism. Unfortunately this whataboutism is full of holes. Antifa cant be said to represent the general ethos of leftism because its not an organization and has no membership structure. To join Proud Boys you understand their mission statement and you agree to its beliefs. There is even initiation rituals. Antifa has none of these things. Antifa in USA is basically 5 years old. Militias have always existed in the US. Toss in the KKK, Storm Front, etc. When the right exists in an offensive posture for decades on end, it makes your claim absolutely impossible to even consider. Being anti fascist is a great thing to be, though, obviously. 8 minutes ago, Gibsonfender2323 said: Yes he is No. Leftism is marked be criticisms of capitalism, including in many cases a rejection of capitalism all together. Leftist thought sees capitalism as oppressive and exploitative. Leftist thought critiques capitalism for ecocide, monocultural, neoliberalism and the creation of the precariat among other items. You may have heard of terms like "socialism" or "anti-capitalist" which are far more indicative of leftism than tweeting about the importance of wearing masks during a pandemic or hocking cheap trinkets while flying a private jet.
