Cool - I’d heard that mentioned on here but wasn’t sure if true. Will need to have a listen out for that leak and listen again. Well, I have not ever heard the general ever, I'm not asking for a link, only if there is a place where I could hear this instrumental partes! It would be better to release something that's easier to sing live. People will want you to play it live... and any attempt to do it, might wreck any ideas Axl once had about that song. A lot of this Chinese Era stuff is completely over the top. Which can be fun on a record, but playing it live is a nightmare. For Slash as well lol (poor SOD solo). Axl can barely pull off Hardskool live, so i would still hope The General gets released with original vocals. I agree with you on his guitar playing. I was impressed he played so well. I can only take his singing for a little while though. Like Sebastian Bach's album Angel Down, after spinning through it once or twice it goes back on the shelf for another few years until I want to hear Axl on those three tracks again. I can just imagine axl sitting there now 'I've got the greatest song ever written in history ready to go, but Ill never release it, because i wont be able to pull it off in a live setting on peoples mobile phone recordings' Just to clarify, no band in history has ever decided against releasing a song on an album or as a single because the lead singer is worried he wont sound perfect on it live. You could be mine, Coma, Better etc Axl continues to add cover songs which are impossibly hard to sing at age 60. Back in Black, Black hole sun, Slither etc Axl released two 'new' songs last year with vocals from 1999 which again he will not be able to replicate at age 60. Axl, if he ever releases new music, will release the best version of his vocal, whether thats from 1999 2006 or 2022, because he sounds the best and it makes the song sound the best. He's not going to release lesser songs that diminish the legacy just because he can play them live to people on youtube and periscopes and sound slightly better than on tougher but better songs. Keifer has similar style as axl with the screaming etc. He sounded awesome, high energy, hardly any breaks, just song after song. It was REALLY good.
