US government might overturn Roe VS. Wade. OMG What year are we in?

Maybe these people who are against abortions can educate men and women on using birth control so they won't have to abort a baby and learn something.

It seems like the world is going backwards and our free will is being taken again.

I don't agree using abortions for birth control, but I do believe in a woman's right to choose especially if she's raped or if there is incest.

Everyday it just makes me ill to be a human being.

Decided to change display name on here, was not expecting to be scared that the acquaintances I have on the forum wouldn't realize I'm the same guy.

It's a very strange thing, a feeling and problem that has to be unique to the digital world. Unless you totally alter your appearance that is.

Lots of crime over the weekend.

Dallas police did catch one suspect who started shooting in Deep Ellum last week. They had him on camera wearing a red shirt and shorts and had his face, so I'm glad they got him. What a moron!

Did he get a fine for not wearing a mask?

Inflation is very high, mothers can't get formula for their babies the war in Ukraine, but when Tom Brady retires as a footballer he will become a sports caster for fox and make hundreds of millions of dollars and no one really knows how good or sucky he will be?

Really in these hard times it makes me sick that anyone who can do sports or act make millions of dollars while teachers and store clerks just live pay check to pay check not to mention seniors.

I think the US government need to do something about this problem. It's getting very hard to just live a half way good life when others make more money then they will ever spend in ten lifetimes. It makes me sick.

No and they caught the son of a bitch! Guns in Texas are everywhere and the crime has gone up. It's not funny when innocent people are shot and some die.

Yes, sort of! At least what some Americans would call communism..and by that I mean Universal Health Care. So many problems in this country woykd go away if they had free health care. But they have been conditioned to believe that it’s bad! My first question when I got here was ‘oh but you have socialized (shudder) health care right?’ Um no, we have free health care. They don’t think we have access to specialists or that we can choose our own doctors. But you know who can’t choose their own doctors? Americans. Bc if your dr is not in your employers ‘network’ then they won’t pay for anything so you have to find a dr who is. It’s nuts. Also, if you are a stay at home mom and your husband works ( or vice versa) and his company offers spousal insurance, you must take it. You cannot apply for Obamacare even if he only makes like $48,000/yr. So you coykd be paying over $1000 month for your family health care. Who can afford that?? It’s nuts. But apparently Biden and Obama are trying to fix this ‘family loophole’ which I am very glad to hear.
a coworker’s husband had a mild stroke..after their insurance paid the hospital and whatnot, they were still left with an $11,000 bill! It’s nuts. It’s criminal. And something has to be done.
I could go on but rant over.  Lol.

@Whiskey Rose I still find it odd that Americans have to pay for their healthcare, we pay a thing called National Insurance which is deducted from your wage, that covers all medical care, sick pay, maternity pay, unemployment money and pensions. It basically pays for our National Health System (NHS) which is free to everyone living here.

I saw an American woman who lives here and she was so amazed when she had her baby and she didn't get a bill for it

In Canada/UK by free healthcare does that mean 100% free for everything or do you have to pay for some things like prescriptions and specific treatments like say for cancer?

All treatment is free. Prescriptions are free for over 65s, anyone claiming benefits, and certain medications are free too.

Anyone not entitled to free prescriptions can pay as they need them or you can buy an annual prepayment certificate which is cheaper if you need regular meds

The prepayment things are pretty good. It’s about £100 a year for all your prescriptions which isn’t bad.

@janrichmond we really are so fortunate! Although it seems UK may have it even better than Canada, I;ll have to look into that a bit more. I like the small prepayment for prescriptions that would cover everything, we don't have that in Canada, at least as far as I know.

@Oldest Goat most employers have a drug plan, which covers most cost of meds, but no in general prescriptions arent' covered. And neither is dental. However, if you don't have an insurance plan with your emloyer, there is a sliding scale for payments. But if you get sick with cancer for eg, you are covered. Break your leg, or need heart surgery, you are covered. What is it like in NZ?

And you are absolutely correct...nothing is done. Year after year, politician after politician, nothing is done. The more stories I hear from people here, the more pissed off I get. lol.

We don't pay a penny for anything other than a small cost for prescriptions as Jan said. Prescriptions are £9.35 per medication or you can pay £108 spit over monthly installments and that covers as many meds as you need for the year.

The problem we do have over here is that though treatment is free there are often long waiting lists. For that reason many do choose to still go private and insurance is still a thing.

I have private healthcare insurance through my employer which meant that when I had a knee injury a couple of years ago I was operated on within a week rather than the six months or more I would have had to wait on the NHS.

If I ever get cancer hook me up mate.

Should probably educate myself on all this stuff. Unless there's a dire disaster though I don't have much to worry about. Out of sight out of mind I guess. I've never had a prostate exam, have you? (The fellas down the pub don't count I mean from an actual doctor )

Hahaha! I've not as of yet but I really should now that I'm over 40.

Cancer is a bit of a sore point over here with the NHS. There's a lot of noise being made over late diagnoses due to people having to wait too long for an appointment. We are very lucky to have the system we do but it's underfunded by our shithouse government and under a lot of strain.

Dallas police arrested one of the shooters from an outdoor concert a few weeks ago. One girl was killed and others wounded. They are searching for more.

Since Texas laws say anyone over 21 can have a gun, gun violence has gone way up. Guess Gov. Abbott thinks if's okay. So sad so many people die often from gun violence in the state of Texas.

I'm 30, probably don't need to bother yet eh?

I think late diagnosis/long waits are an issue most places unfortunately, they are here. My stepsister was diagnosed with cancer recently, because of her savvy, otherwise it would've gone unnoticed. She began treatment and had an operation within 2 weeks. But that's because she's savvy and has some connections in the industry. Usually the wait is way longer sadly.

Fingers crossed I either don't get seriously ill at all or not until I'm old, in which case I'd just let myself die probably lol.

Unfortunately cancer can get anyone at any age. My mom got breast cancer at 56, but more women in their 30's are getting it now. More people are getting colon cancer in their 40's and that's why the doctors say to start getting a colenscopy in your forties.

I think for anyone these days getting yearly check ups is a good thing.  Better to catch things early and you have a better chance of survival. My mom had many surgeries but survived because they caught it early.

wish the US had the medical care that Europe and Canada have.  Here even with insurance we pay higher prices for care.

And so many Americans don't have insurance at all. My brother has a pre-existing condition so he has Obama care. It's not the best, but it's something. He needs treatments every 2 months for his condition.

I doubt most medical doctors would give up their big salaries to care for patients for free.

I get the prepayment card which I renew each year, I wasn't aware they did the instalment thing.
