No school and no public congregation exceeding 100 people as of tomorrow in the Czech Rep., because 40 people have the C-virus (no one has died).

I mean, I get the situation and all, but come on, isn't this a bit of an overkill? Shit's gonna spread anyway.

It is mostly to reduce the intensity of new cases right now to allow your health care system to cope with it. So not so much to try to stop the spread, but to reduce the intensity of the spread right now. The same number of people will likely get infected, but just more spread out over time.

That makes some sense.

Ughhh...

We’re fucked.

This may be bullshit but I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were saying a test for this virus in the US is going to cost $3,000 per patient.

Just in case Trump sends any COVID-19 refugees our way, I just made and froze a variety of pork, rice and veg dishes. Including Chinese, Mexican and Caribbean styles. Those paired with the proper fresh micro greens will be great if need be!

For those picking up some extra groceries. Heres some things that you might not realize you can freeze,

- Deli meat

https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/can-you-freeze-deli-meat/

- Eggs

https://www.eggs.ca/yourquestions/question/36/can-eggs-be-frozen

Our egg council says here ^^ that you don't even need to stir them to combine yolk and whites, but I much prefer that method..

https://www.wikihow.com/Freeze-Eggs

- Cheese

https://www.wikihow.com/Freeze-Cheese

I always shred cheddar or mozzarella. Imho a block of cheese will never regain its texture. You'll be cooking with any cheese that you freeze. Same for yogurt, sour cream, cream cheese, ricotta.

Always nice to see the profit motive considered in the face of a global pandemic.  USA!

Some Texans who were released from that ship in Oakland are being transferred to San Antonio.

A family in Frisco which is in Colin County which is about 45 minutes from Dallas have tested positive to the virus.

America should have been on alert as soon as China told the world about this virus. Now it's too late to prevent it. Most of the US states have a case or more now.

Kiss has cancelled their Meet and Greets, which I can't blame them.

I wonder when concerts will be postponed or cancelled all together.

Damn it. I have to many concerts this year. It seems every band I love is touring. This sucks and I feel so bad for all the people who are sick. They must be so scared.

“In an effort to cope” with covid-19, “Italy is graduating nurses early and calling medical workers out of retirement,” reporter Loveday Morris wrote in The Post. “Hospitals in the hardest-hit regions are delaying nonessential surgeries and scrambling to add 50 percent more intensive-care beds. ‘This is the worst scenario I’ve seen,’ said Angelo Pan, the head of the infectious-disease unit at the hospital in Cremona.” On Monday, that scenario moved the Italian government to take the astonishing step of shutting down the entire country.

Think about that for a moment. According to the World Health Organization, Italy had three confirmed covid-19 cases three weeks ago. Yes, three — as in, the number of contestants on “Jeopardy!” Now the entire nation of some 60 million people is essentially quarantined, at an untold cost to the economy of a highly developed nation.

That kind of decision is not made in response to overheated media.”

I got family in Italy mainly in the Potenza region by Naples which is in the middle of nowhere. My dad hasn't heard anything from them or my other family in Bolonga. Either way they are getting hit really hard on this

fascinating how politics somehow seem to creep up in this discussion.

everyone can be affected: left or right. This could be the one opportunity where all involved should be on the same page. it says a lot about mankind that even in the face of a world-wide epidemy, it's not possible to set aside our differences. Isn't that, ultimately, why governments across the world struggle to contain the epidemy? Indecision that originates from a conflict between different interests.

Perhaps it was time that something like this happened. This is nature's answer to mankind's greed, obsession with money and depletion of natural resources. We won't solve the problem, nature will.

Some bimbo on Fox News was ranting about this the other day saying how this was no time for politics and how everybody should be pulling together at a time of crisis. It made me wonder why Republicans only call for unity when it's their guy that fucks up. Can you imagine what the narrative would be on Murdoch Media had this happened under a Democratic government?

This is nature's answer to the Chinese eating anything that's not nailed down or on fire.

there's pretty much finger pointing across the board. In belgium, socialists and right wingers are having a petty fight about responsabilities.

there can be an alien invasion tomorrow and right / left politicians will still fight on how to manage this problem. Even ants, who don't have a brain to brag about, can create and sustain a whole colony in total unity, and effectively react to calamities like you stepping on one with your heavy working shoe.

It's actually really fucking amusing, in a bad way.

Oh, to be clear I do think that this not the time for petty politics but i have to admit to a part of me kinda hoping that this is going to hurt Trump in the election.
