Popular Post DefinitelyInThisLifetime Posted December 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2020 Well. Simple question. I’ll start. I have. In a year where we can get kickass albums from so many artists, this would have been the perfect time. Now? It’s the perfect time to give up on this band. It’s over. They’ll get their blind followers who jizz all over or squirt over them from their countries that post the same fucking nonsense because they treat the band like a religion..... Who’s with me? 4 1 Quote
JAxlMorrison Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I sort of have. I think it just is what it is at this point. I’d still see them live, but I’m not hoping for anything else beyond that. 1 Quote
DurhamGirl Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 With the problems Covid brings regarding touring we may never hear or see from them again..I wonder if they care. Quote

Sisyphus Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 (edited) Well sort of. Some time ago. I'm still here because I'm still interested but I have zero expectations. I'm disappointed, disillusioned and generally sad when I think of the abomination my favourite band has become. I don't plan on attending shows and I don't buy the merchandise. Dean Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I'm too far down the road to stop at this point. I have faith. Let's see what happens. 1 Quote
carsonskitz Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 (edited) I'll still see them live, but yeah in terms of releasing stuff other than compilations they're a long time finished. Edited December 24, 2020 by carsonskitz Quote

This is pretty much where I'm at. Obviously not totally given up as I still come here (although a lot of that is the people who lost here, who I enjoy talking to and often give me some laughs). It's almost like a soap opera that you keep following at this stage. I don't think we'll see another album though.....even though there's every potential for it to happen, but I'd love to be wrong. 2 Quote

Same. As for the new album prospects? I guess I think it possibly, might happen... but on what timeline? I am not optimistic for a 2021 GNR album. These guys are either like Ninjas jumping into studios in the dead of night, or they are more like fat tom cats (Think Garfield) sitting on their asses sending a group text dad joke every once in a while. Eddie trunk said 2 things that I think most here can agree with, even if you don't like Eddie. 1. He doesn't think there will be a new GNR record (he said that in 2016) 2. Any band that wants to put out music is preparing and recording it right now, if nothing comes out after all this time off, it's clear that new music is not on whichever artist you follows radar. Never-ending farewell tour, (Limited date) AFD reunion, and distant 3rd is new album. They are the only options I see for GNR that allows them to keep touring at a consistent level. A new album doesn't guarantee stadiums, I think the only way they hold on to stadium status is being a bit more selective on the number of shows they play AND when they do play they need to be on form, nobody is expecting to hear the song exact to 1987, but it should be a little more than vaguely familiar. If this was a soap opera, it would be cancelled for failing to turn in the episodes on time🤣 Edited December 24, 2020 by Tom2112 5 Quote

rumandraisin Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I think I do what most people do, check the forum once every few days in the hope there's a new leak. That's all we can hope for. I genuinely don't think we'll see a new album. Second to that I check the forum hoping for a new interview where Fortus says "we all want it... we're seriously thinking about the way to move forward..." 2 Quote
EvanG Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 No. But then again, I don't take it all as seriously as all the negative nancies on here. It's just a rock n roll band. I never thought Slash would ever get back, and look what happened. I'm sure that there will be new music coming out at one point, whether it's years from now or sooner than I think. 1 Quote

pbj_jam Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Here for the comedy, use your illusion indeed. Merry xmas Quote
Gackt Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I'm never going to drop listening to and enjoying GNR, but my optimism in where the band's headed hasn't been lower. I'll be sticking around for when all the rest of the Chinese era music finally emerges. Quote
JimiRose Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Yes. They've given up on themselves. They've given up on the fans. The GnR we want will never again exist. Thanks for the memories and the music. RIP Quote
jamillos Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Out of all those many years, I see no reason why this one in particular should be the one to give up on the band (and as was said above, I as well have been in for too long to give up anyway; it’s an integral part of my life). I’ve said it here before: we lack perspective. We get (quite understandably) angry after no news for 3 or 4 months. I remember entire years passing by without pretty much a single interview or any info about the band. Yes, their way of conduct sucks balls, but that doesn’t mean the album hasn’t been finished already and isn’t being mixed or something. Concerts will probably start during summer/fall of 2021. It will be fine. Sure, they could/should be releasing singles, studio videos etc., the “mystery” thing is ridiculous in this extent, their management is horrible and all that, but what can you do. The only thing that actually kind of troubles me is Axl’s voice. Will he be able to pull off something at least close to the 2016 version? Even if just for the studio recordings? As for live gigs, I don’t really care, to be honest. They’d have to completely stir up and refurbish the set for me to be assed to go. And even in that case I sort of doubt it, because I just can’t manage to keep standing for 4–5 hours any longer (if I wanna be near, or in, the mosh pit), and sitting somewhere at the back is useless (sound-wise and other), I might as well watch it on Youtube. DurhamGirl Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 But there is a difference this time, this damned pandemic. I think music is more than 'just a rock n roll band', it becomes the backstory to one's life, 1 Quote
Sonicjam Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I would say 90% given up, but holding on to that 10% strongly. Quote
