Who are these people complaining about "white" and "male"? A small, vocal minority or is it the type of people who go there?

It is not that small, there's a lot of noise around the matter, though they are kind of right, I think is just Gen Z / Late Millenials trying to be woke.

I suspect Guns won't allow it to be live streamed, though I do suspect we will see something like Coachella where a songs are allowed to be played.

Axl just hasn't got the vocal chops anymore to sound even remotely like what the general public remember him as, even arguably his best nights from 2022 were still a shadow of what general people remember Axl sounding and on TV there will be no hiding it with effects/layering.

Why do you think they won't allow the streaming? Last year they streamed Rock In Rio 22.

I suppose it means there is a ‘better’ chance of a single/EP around that specific gig as exposure goes through the roof for that festival.

Don't even start to get your hopes, there's like a 0,5 % chance this gig will mean / change anything. It's either right before the tour starts or before the US leg, but I guess we all already sense how this will play out.

I think Artic Monkeys will get the best reviews out of the 3 headliners.

Outside of gnr somehow having their shit together I think you're right. Artic monkeys are still huge in the UK with all ages, but more relevant and they are generally on the money with their live show.

Expecting some critiquing of Elton and Axls voices

What they need to do is come out and play like they did in Dublin last summer - where Axl sounded as close to 93 as I’ve heard in a long time.

Oh no wait - he blew his voice out right before London and Glasgow. And right after Glastonbury is……. Glasgow 😂

What makes you think it's just England that says this stuff?

England is going progressively more right wing, so these views certainly aren't held by most people. They are held by the sort of people who traditionally go to these sorts of festivals though.

Are you English? Just curious.

Well, it comes with context - in this case the organiser, Emily Eavis, repeatedly saying in the last how important it is to have new acts headlining and female ones. Then she books all this, so it's understandable people are going to focus on that.

England isn't going progressively more right wing. Not at all. The left is moving further and further away from the centre. It isn't enough to be accepting, you have to be some kind of activist not to be a problem.

I have mixed views on it- it's kind of lame in some ways as people that say a lot of this stuff are very hypocritical , but I do agree with the general point that we should be looking at a more progressive society that doesn't just represent wealthy rich men.

And also....I don't know what it's like to be a woman, or a person that isn't white, so I can't really speak for their experiences and points of view. If they tell me they feel excluded or unrepresented then I'm not going to tell them their feelings are wrong, as I simply don't know.

Thanks for being a voice of reason here. That some people here get so offended about Glastonbury wanting a line up that represents different groups in society shows that it's needed.

Yeah, just like Rock In Rio 2022 lol

Glastonbury’s knock on effects in terms of streaming/sales are ridiculous. I’d imagine well in excess of RIR….I’m not saying they WILL release anything….just that it’s probably the best time.

I’m not hoping per se….if we get anything then great. If not….I’m currently revelling in my 3rd release from the new MetallicA album and will be going to the cinema next month for the global streaming event….these things will keep me entertained!

Hmmm.....the last 12 years have seen increasingly right wing people being voted in, culminating in a man who made racist, homophobic and sexist comments. So I'd politely disagree.

Here's hoping for a change at the next election though.

LMAFO @ "all white all male headliners"

Suppose I'm a company owner who looks to hire a specialist in something and there's no qualified black and or female for this occupation.
Then am I accused of being a racist or homophobic?

Now let's say there's 1 female/black out of 10 candidates for the job but she's not qualified or experienced enough or has a shitty personality compared to the 9 other white male candidates.
Do I need to hire her just because of equality bullshit?

What a clown world.

I have mixed feelings. While I'm happy for them to be on a big stage and get media exposure, the thought of the critics and the reviews depresses me already. Also, it's frustrating to think that the younger generations that doesn't know GNR might be disappointed with their performance. I know I’m overthinking, but tbh I want them to kill it as a fan.

I'm happy if this shitshow of a reunion gets a massive exposure once and forever and make Axl face the reality.

Although deeply I wish he can prove me wrong.

If I recall Guns did similar with Reading back in 2010.

It happened in 2002. Pukkelpop was streaming full lineup over their website except GNR.

I'm a not-very-white middle-eastern male. Been living abroad most of life and no I don't need to protest to support my ethnicity or skin. Just integrate into society and get a real job and people will respect you instead of spending day and night campaigning about it.

Honestly if no one would tell me about these "all male white men" lineup bullshit, I wouldn't even notice anything.

If you're gay you're gay. No need to rally on the streets. Or should I rally on the streets in support of being straight?

GNR saves the day :P

I would love to have seen the people complaining about gnr when they saw the band photo and there was 3 non white members. Which one of the 3 is not counted as "non-white".

Only a matter of time before some BS rag magazine / tiktokker makes their fresh take on One in a million

that a fact or opinion? link me to an official data for verification.

Anyway I don't want to continue this topic 'cause WOKE army are always right around the corner.

"I'm going to say ignorant stuff, demand that people who disagree with me back up their statements without backing up mine, then disengage before anyone can reply while insisting that people who disagree with me are trying to cancel me." Did I miss anything? :max:

Anyway guess it's good to see Guns back on the festival headline circuit, if they're still a draw they're still a draw.
