If my theory is real that HardSkool is tied to a UYI box (as random as that would be), maybe they originally intended for the box to come out on the actual 30th anniversary date, but delayed it be a few months to avoid competition with Metallica? People are saying it won’t happen because it’s not a UYI era recording and wouldn’t make sense. Things with this band rarely do make sense though and I wouldn’t put it past GNR to use Absurd and Hardskool as ‘new exclusive songs’ to promote the UYI release and to tempt more fans to spend money on it. The text and font used on the Absurd single cover also points to it being linked to UYI. The bands reasoning to include it on a UYI set will probably just be “it’s got Duff and Slash on it”. Doesn't add up when you put it together with the few things management has said. "Absurd is on the album" There's no way to read that should be interpreted as "Absurd is in the boxset for the remastered UYI". It's beyond not making sense. The reason Shadow of your love was on AFD boxset was because the song was cut in 1986 along with the other songs, it tied into the era. If we're talking about possibilities then, the only outside option besides a proper LP is they are readying the NITL live album and we're getting two bonus tracks. At this point people will take anything, but it would be GNR reading the room completely wrong. It's almost certainly a full length album, but there is that part of me that has seen how GNR do things and I guess the live album option doesn't sound too crazy... unfortunately.
