I love the placement too, I think it's a really neat 2nd song in the tracklist. Love how Chinese Democracy is a little more "classic" GNR and has at least somewhat familiar style, and then the 2nd track comes in and is an entirely different beast. Taylor isn't my type of music but that drum intro really kicks and then the horns are a nice compliment with her voice and the uptempo beat. The song doesn't take itself too seriously and becomes really festive at the end. It's just a nice dance bop. The only downside IMO is Ashba's guitar way too loud in the mix even though he's not playing the actual riff during the verses, but rather some very basic power chords. It changes it for the worse. Him and Frank were not needed at all. The album was arguably done by the time they joined. Had it have cone out in 2006 as it sounded from the leaks of TWAT, Better and IRS etc, so the album circa 2004, would anyone really have said "oh, there's no Frank on this, it sucks" or "I wish Bumble had replaced some of these Bucket head parts". That final bit of recording in 2006 was completely unnecessary in my opinion. Especially what they did to the title track by adding the fretless slides in the verses and removing brains drums. I could see a reconfigured acoustic version being pretty impactful and there's a message there that gets lost by how the song came out.
