Estranged music video was released more than two years after UYI's. But that video was a multi million dollar cinematic production, not a lazy effort. It had elevated the song for fans much higher than perceived initially in 91 and added to its greatness. Even I kind of like the General as a song. It has grown well on me personally. And I really don't want a lame music video to ruin my imagination about it. Playing devil's advocate here......we don't know the video will be lame. It could be an incredible work of art that blows us all away? Haha, who am I kidding?! I tried!

Carnal894x
It's probably not what I would want like a suprise new album drop so if I had to guess it's a music vid for The General.
Popular Post KeyserSoze
Man, every time I come back around here I'm reminded why I've gotten out of this band since 2017 and into other things that are way more fulfilling. This whole thing is just so freaking lazy from every perspective. It feels like a desperate plea to get people to notice "The General." Especially with the way Jarmo said there was no video planned, now all of a sudden theres a video. The amount of publications that ANNOUNCED "The General" this morning as a NEW song and not one thats a month and a half old proves that nobody has been paying attention to GNR, and for good reason if this is how they treat us. Perhaps has generated almost 5 million more streams than The General... The "fall off" is happening right in front of us. You can't release a single every month like all of these Rappers do and expect your audience to not question what the hell is going on. I think this impending video is an absolute after thought and an attempt to keep the GNR name "relevant" during a slow period. Hell, the timing of this release and the fact that Slash starts his NEW solo tour the same day is almost comedic. This company that does GNRs graphics probably has nothing to do now that GNR isn't on tour, so they figured: lets mash up some live footage with a completely A.I. rendered video. Hell, they might have put the lyrics through an A.I. program and the first thing that came out was what they used. As fans, we shouldn't stand (or sit) for this. A band that was KNOWN to have one of the greatest creative outputs (music, videos, tours, award shows, interviews, behind the scenes, etc) of the early 90's has now been relegated to A.I. inspired music videos with absolutely NO creative input from the members of the band. Even Chinese Democracy has more creative direction FROM Axl than whatever the fuck era we are in right now. Billy Strings just went through an A.I. controversy where his team hired an "artist" to produce special shirt designs for his New Years run in New Orleans. This "artist" was new to the game (under 500 followers on instagram..) and literally just used an A.I. program to create "trippy" images that were then put on T-Shirts and sold to the public. Billy had to come out and apologize to all of his fans after he was accused to trying to bring more A.I. art into his brand and not hire true, legit artists. I know GNR isn't asking us to spend our hard earned money in this case (thats a whole other argument...) but why would you NOT want to see something creative from an actual artist or director? My final thought is this: Is that footage from the teaser from the Hollywood Bowl...? And if it is, knowing how GNR fans are about their live footage, why not just release that as "The General (Live)" or some stupid shit. This band is really mind boggling. Go see/follow Slash on this upcoming tour. He looks like he's gunna be doing great things this year. I'm sure the pay off will be much better than whatever the FUCK this is... Illusion1987
So.... They are releasing a song almost 100% of the General public hates and has mixed reviews from their die hard fans. All of this after BOTCHING a digital release that they only had 20+ years to prepare for. This band can't Get out of their own way! People are only going to bash the band more for releasing a mediocre song as a video..

Popular Post Free Bird
I think all of you motherfuckers are smoking crack pipes all day long. Moaning and bitching about the band for years for not releasing music and shit and when they do and they announce something, you just continue complaining WITHOUT even knowing the result. You don‘t even bother waiting to see what this music video will look like. You don‘t even know if it‘s just a music video but you still decide to criticise it for fuck‘s sake! I want my favorite band to make music and release music related stuff, not some fucking toy trucks! And when they do, that’s something positive in my mind. I‘m happy about it and I’m excited UNTIL I get to listen to what they actually did. THEN I can judge if it was worth the wait or not. The way you act is just laughable. They could easily wait for the next tour in 2025 without releasing anything. The fact that they wanna release something this early in 2024 could mean they‘ve plans to release more later this year. And if not it‘s still better than releasing nothing. 18 1

Nothing has been recorded "new" and most of these throwaway tracks were not good enough for a album originally or scratch copy/paste/repeated vocals. The quality of everything this band does release whether thats music, merch or even communication is such a poor quality compared to most other bands. Fans have a right to have such low expectations purely by this bands actions. Sure most fans would be happy to be proven wrong. 4

Perhaps that's not's what's being announced/released on the 24th. But if it is, I think the criticism isn't without merit.

And if not it‘s still better than releasing nothing. Most people who are still here would probably tell you this used to be one of the best bands on the planet. Releasing a music video 2 months later, with AI animation, for a very mediocre song, is not something that's gonna excite people. We know they're still sitting on great songs, but they're milking a b-side because it's their down time... I'm glad they've decided to do music videos again but let's not pretend this is anything to be excited about. 2 minutes ago, EvanG said: It’s herd behaviour here as always. Compare the reactions to The General vs the reactions to Monsters. Or the reactions to the Selects vs the reactions to Ritz 91. When the band gives us something good, the forum is overwhelmingly positive. Releasing a video with AI animation deserves to be criticized. Just release another live montage, or a lyric video, AI is beyond lazy and lame.

But other than that, yeah, many of the comments are as exaggerated and over-dramatic as usual, considering it's only a teaser they're reacting to. And I'm not even sure I get what the overly negative reaction has been about (besides the AI). That they don't make music videos that are on par with the trilogy videos? That they don't spend enough money on it? And the problem with the kid's changing hat is the concept itself or that it's poorly made?
Rindmelon
As I said can't judge it until I have seen the whole thing. If we still didn't have the song and a clip came out the fair enough I would listen to it, but a clip of the video when the full thing is due in a few days i think i can wait
