I don't think there's another guitar player around that could do these "all star singers" thing as a permanent thing. Good singer but the emotions weren't coming across strong enough. The lyrics originally conveyed shock, shame, longing, questioning the truth and it came across as accusatory and if you're going to accuse somebody in a song, get pissed off, really pissed off. He really hasn't mentioned it at all and describes the festival as a nod to Blues music. I always admired Slash keeping things about the music. A family friend and a personal friend of mine, who’s about 66, old school, no internet etc., forever in love with blues/rock and the likes (I’ve been downloading various music videos for him, like the Crossroads festival etc.; he likes Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, Beth Hart and tons of others)... well and so this guy has been playing the two previous Slash videos on a loop for the last few weeks after I’d brought them to him. Now I’m about to tell him there’s another video. And the album finally out. This is good. We both like whisky, btw. I love weekends.
