Problem is, the only person who says that it's true is Fortus himself. No one else in SMKC or otherwise has verified it.

What purpose would Fortus have for lying about this?

Do you see conspiracies everywhere or just where GNR are concerned?

People have these wild theories that Slash and Duff dislike everybody in GnR and think less of them for some reason. It's just so wild to see the narratives they make up in their own heads and how far they run with it lol

have a real hard time believing a legend like Slash would jive with someone like Fortis.

How so?  Fortus is a fairly professional dude and they seem to get along musically well

Or ever denied it

Apart from that one time on FB that Fortus said that there's absolutely no evidence anywhere else that he was in consideration for SMKC. And tbh I can't see why Slash would ask someone in Axl's band to join him at that time; there was still animosity between them.

Nor a denial

Who knows what the case is, but he has evidently edited out everything that could potentially piss Axl off (including some rather cool stories, like the opium smoking and the Dallas incident). He has even taken out the disparaging comments about Paul Tobias' guitar playing

He has kept some of the negative stuff about Slash (e.g. about Snakepit and the RRHOF), but the wording is much softer.

What did he say about snakepit/rrhof?

- Snakepit: That it was supposed to be a collaborative thing and not Slash's solo project, but Slash named it Slash's Snakepit and hired Eric Dover without consulting Matt. When Matt found out, he was so pissed off that he went to Slash's house in the middle of the night, Slash wouldn't let him in telling him to calm down, but Matt tried to climb the fence, his clothes got caught on a spike and he ended up hanging from it, and finally Slash came out, got him down and let him in.

- RRHOF: Matt had been told that they weren't going to play, but when he arrived there Gilby informed him that they were playing and then he found out that Steven would play on all songs. Then he saw Myles and thought that Slash was using the event as an opportunity to promote his band.

Matt said in an interview that what he put in the book about Slash was stuff he had said to Slash's face, so I guess that's why he didn't edit these parts out.

Sorry if this has been asked, but is there much difference between the leaked version of a year or so ago and the official release? Is Matthew still testing hookers for Heidi in this release?

The hooker and groupie stuff has been edited out (plus most of the GN'R reunion stuff, a lot of stuff about the GN'R breakup as well as many Axl related stories).

Was not aware there was a leaked version

Really? That's the reason this thread has so many pages

It wasn't exactly a leaked version. The book was going to be released in 2020 and was available for pre-order, then the release was postponed; however, it was released by accident on Amazon on the original release date (and was available for a couple of days), so some people were able to buy it.
