Like if it came out back in the day like Metallica's road doc (2.5 yrs...) then fans would have the sentimentality of watching it back in the day, or when they first became fans. But if we just get a home video of young people getting drunk and telling knock knock jokes surrounded by poodle haired workers, would it really be that cool? Quote After Izzy is off the tour how much actual coolness is there? You got a struggling dude somewhere unseen with his new age spiritual advisor (Axl). You got an annoying money grubbing womanizer (Matt). Socially awkward people who are mostly in altered states (Slash, Duff, Dizzy). And their uncle (Gilby). Footage of lavish parties with no band members in attendance? More footage of Axl skipping down a hotel hallway? I'll tell you what Id want. Is Saskatoon 93 and an Izzy Show, with the very best bits of the John doc sprinkled in. And just dump the rest as bonus footage. Maybe commentary, something to bring it to where the fans are at today? I believe an Excitment and Edge was still there but as we all know Definitley not as Cool as when Izzy was there! ...Bonus Izzy Footage Backstage Would be Cool!

Original
It’s all up to the housekeeper and family (unfortunately). Too bad a “free Axl” movement doesn’t exist.

His drop off in quality is remarkable. Look at his contemporaries. James Hetfield, Bono, Anthony Kiedis, Jagger, Eddie Vedder. These guys have maintained quality thru out their careers. Axl is the reverse of a bad before and after picture. Nitpicking: Jagger is hardly a contemporary. Axl was a baby when the Rolling Stones formed. It actually shows that it's possible to be a senior citizen and hold your own onstage.

Much like Prince and his "vault" and how his estate has released some fairly interesting stuff after his death. For how long those guys have been going, they've arguably all declined somewhat from their primes. Some more than others. You're talking about a group of singers with very different vocal ranges and styles. Anthony Kiedis has the least range of all of them and his songs have never seemed particularly difficult to sing. Eddie Vedder as much as I love him sounds much different than he did in the 90s. He's lost a lot of the deepness in his singing voice. James Hetfield hasn't sounded the same since 1993 and sings a lot of their songs with cleaner vocals instead of the "barking" style from his prime.
agustingloger
I don't think so... Slash/Duff/Matt were probably drunk or high in a Bad way all the time. And well we all know all the stories of Axl being a shit so no don't think it'll see the light

Hetfield in 2019 was the best he had sounded in decades….unfortunately that coincided with his addiction issues. Not saying they are linked but listen to 2019 footage and it’s quite remarkable how good he sounds.
darkside259
i think the time will come and they r gonna release it, is more evident now that they release used to love her from that show, they had the material in hand, even slash had acces in hand so they probably waiting the time to make a " UYI TOUR BLUE RAY SPECIAL" or something like that, they r more open to release material, look the selects for example
siraddam
There's bits and pieces of it on YouTube that you can see. To be honest it's kind of boring. Slash and Duff are drunk most of the time and Axl doesn't really have anything interesting to say. The Robert John Photography documentary is probably the most interesting thing out there from those days. 1

WVsax27
idk if the money exists for something like this anymore. Depending on what the footage was filmed on it could be in bad shape and need some work. It all costs money that they aren't likely to get back. Is it on tape? Is there anything on film? Has any of it been digitized? Do they even have the original masters anymore? Edited September 11, 2021 by WVsax27

Since hardcore fans will buy boxsets in droves still (as evidenced by the Beatles lavish box sets), if genuine content such as that is included, it will be appreciated and purchased for sure
allwaystired
Inexplicable as it sounds, they'd rather stuff rotted on the floor than let us see or hear it.
El Guapo
As mentioned before by others, I really don't think they want to show their former selves this way at this point. The drinks, the drugs, the stupidity, Axl's over the top diva behaviour - everything interesting/ hilarious would probably be cut out now. So, as with many, many other things Gnr: This ship has sailed. 3

Fernando claims none of it has been digitized but that UTLH 1993 clip they posted a few months back suggests otherwise…
guitarpatch
I don’t think we will see anything until they are done with their current contract with UMG and have looked at the prospect of releasing or licensing out their catalog/vault themselves Not that it will happen, but there will be better odds
