Sunak is an absolute cunt, i went from full time employment to self employment last September, now because i only had 4 months self employment and no tax return. I get fuck all from tory government.

That's your own fault. You should have been a large bank, then you would have been taken care of!

In most countries, Employment (rather Unemployment) benefits are there for those who have recently been contributing. There are typically options for self-employed to contribute, but most dont. Theses are unusual times so hopefully there are some programs for folks like yourself. I know there are some recently announced here in canada.

Here too. It's not much they'll be getting, but it's something.

Please make sure to get enough vitamin D. We often get it from the sun.

Your milk and orange juice might be fortified with it. Its in fatty fish, including canned tuna. One can find it in a multivitamin or Vitamin D3 liquid drops.

D(3) is fat soluble. This means that the body requires fat to digest it. So with fatty fish, you are all covered. But with just a glass of fortified OJ you actually might not absorb too much of it. For best results, consume vitamin D with some fat.

Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium.

You just reminded me to take my Vitamins D and C today. Thank you. :)

GREAT tip. I take a D supplement every day, it it's something I need to remind others of.

Great advice but no evidence that it helps against corona virus.

Considering the thread topic I found it prudent to point it out so no one would think you meant it did.

No one else thought that so far, so it seems perhaps you are the only one who is confused by it. Thanks though.

What most people will understand by the second sentence I typed is that since we are all quarantined and self isolating that we should be aware of the fact that we might not all be getting adequate vitamin d. Which, being perfectly in keeping with the threads topic, people will likely understand without any hand-holding.

Italy is reporting that 919 people died in the last 24 hours.

Italy and Spain have been the worst affected in europe so far. London has had a lot of deaths also, they say that the UK is 2/3 weeks behind mainland Europe in terms of the virus.

Whereas Germany seems to have things figured out, relatively speaking.

I'm kind of scared to think what the numbers out of the UK will be in the next two weeks; even scarier will be the US in the next two to three weeks.

In Belgium we're fmlattening the curve apparently. Which is of course great news. We've been in lockdown two weeks now, and it's been prolonged for two weeks, until April 19th, with a possibility to prolong it with another two weeks after evaluation.

The peak is expected next week or the week after now. As we're flattening the curve, the aim is of course to postpone the peak and to make it as low as possible.

The biggest worry is young people not following the rules, as they think it won't hurt them. Which is very sad of course. We had lockdownparties two weeks ago, which were harshly condemned at the time, and several young people in ICU right now have been to such parties. Apparently those parties are still going on. I have seen on social media psychologists and youth workers trying to reach out to young people and making them realize that they are in danger too, and that they have a huge responsibility towards the other people as well.

90% of the dead here are over 65. From the younger, most people seem to be men, but there's no explanation for that yet. It has been said that maybe it's because men smoke more, but the experts say (and I agree) that doesn't seem to be the case in Belgium. Maybe it is in other countries though.

Biggest risk factors: high blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes.

I feel reasonably safe right now, as I've been selfisolating for 3 weeks now, and taking good care of all precautions, as is my family. I feel safer with all the measures in effect than before. But our PM has also said that we're just getting started. There is a long road ahead of us and the numbers are really worrying in almost all parts of the world. Not too much good news to be taken from there. I hope that next week we might be seeing a turnaround, in some of the countries that have been hardest hit now.

I listened in to a panel discussion recently about corona virus vaccine development, and one thing that I found interesting was the experts saying it is likely that the majority of us will be serum positive for SARS-CoV-2 by the end of the year. Or in other words, that most of us will get infected. Social distancing just means we postpone it. Not to scare people who now feel safe in lockdown, and on the flip side, the lethality is hopefully, and in my opinion likely, much lower when we take count after wide-spread testing of how many have been infected.

I know I'll probably get it (or maybe I'm extremely lucky and have already had it without realizing), but I'm hoping I can put it off for as long as possible, so they may have found some medication that makes it less of a hell than it apparently is right now. As an asthma patient, I know what it is not to be able to breathe, it's a horrible feeling and whenever I see someone out of breath, or one of those corona patients in ICU, I get a bit panicky. I've always had this that I can't stand people being out of breath in movies for instance  Because then the feeling I so often had as a kid, comes back. I'm secretly hoping the medication I already take to prevent my lungs from collapsing or infecting, might be helping me against this virus. (You don't have to say it's not likely, @SoulMonster, just let me be ignorant on this one:lol:)

And if this virus will keep coming back, as it is expected, I hope there will be a vaccine the next time it's here.

Yeah our health officials were also like, yeah most of you guys will get it. Harsh truth but reality and why they are doing the lockdowns is because our local hospitals can not handle all of us being there at the same time. I mean we only have a total of like 70 cases, but our local hospitals have very very low number of PPE's already. You get one mask and have to try to make it last a 12 hour shift. A lot of our ER doctors are already testing positive for the virus. It's insane....

My cousin's daughters are nurses and have been working on no masks and I think there might be a patient in one of the hospitals that they work in.

NYC is still a big mess. When are the medical supplies arriving? This is crazy.

I know the doctors all talk about how to stay inside, but not what they are doing to try and stop this virus? I swear it seems like it's been here forever and will go on forever. Everyone is stating April as a date for change, but I honestly don't think that will happen.

All the schools in the US need to stay closed until the new school year and everyone needs to stay in as much as possible. One doctor said it might get better in the summer months, but come back in the winter. It could become a regular virus like the flu.

Went to Walmart today. Everyone seemed to be staying 6 feet apart and the cashiers had masks and gloves on. I commend them for all working to keep the shelves full for the customers. I think going today was better than waiting for the weekend.

Still the toilet paper was gone, but I'm good on that.

What scares me is that the expert doctors don't know much about this virus and don't give us much hope. That sucks. I can't stand watching the news anymore. I stick to local news because I need to know what's happening here as do we all. It just freaks me out more when they tell us what the rest of the world is experiencing. I can't take this on a larger scale anymore.

Stay well out there!

It will be a miracle if some of us don't get infected. I mean look how fast this spreads. Some people in Texas are positive and they didn't travel or knew anyone else who was sick. I think it's scary to think you might be carrying this virus and not knowing it. Anytime I go out I pray I reach 14 days without getting ill, but who knows?

I have been taking vitamin c for over a year now. It helps our humane system. but who knows? I take vitamins and vitamin d and calcium every day too.

welllllll....

maybe china lied just a little bit about death rates and age groups?

are the experts starting to cast some cautious doubt about their numbers, at least?

Do you have a legitimate publication that supports the conspiracy theories that China has suppressed the true numbers of infections and dead?

If China had a much bigger problem than they are reporting I don’t think they would be reopening parts of life, sending infectious disease specialists to Italy, and donating medical supplies to countries in desperate need.

I am sure the medicine is helpful in treating respiratory symptoms from covid-19, too :)
