Popular Post ZoSoRose
Great thread. I'll rank them from "worst" to best. I still enjoyed every GNR show I have seen, but there have been some big differences in quality- 10. Hollywood Bowl- Los Angeles CA USA 11/2/2023, I am kind of bummed this is ranked last because I was really hyped to see them in Hollywood at such an iconic venue. I'll say, I still had a great time and trip, but the performance was definitely the weakest GNR show I have seen. The setlist also wasn't as fresh for me because I caught a 2023 show in Boston a few months prior. The band was tired coming off of a monster tour, and Axl struggled. The show was definitely cut short with a lot of slots missing- including YCBM! I don't necessarily need all those songs because I have seen them so many times, and they still played 2.5 hours, but that really tells you how tired Axl was. He had a lot of vocal struggles this night and the sound made it tough to mask things when the vocals were weaker, although he did seem to try very hard. The sound fluctuated, but overall, it wasn't great. We were in the back, and it was super quiet. We could have conversations at normal volume throughout the show. That also made the vocal issues more noticeable. Despite all that, I got to travel out to LA and see the band with my aunt and fiancée and overall, the trip was great. Seeing the band with my aunt and fiancée probably did not help with my mood because Axl's vocal woes were very apparent to them, whereas I am more forgiving. My aunt likes the hits, and my fiancée is not a fan but knows all their music through me. Seeing the band with casuals (or non- fans) when the vocals are rough can be a tough sell. Still, it was so cool seeing them in Hollywood and seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl, no less. The venue itself is gorgeous, and the show itself is extremely memorable because they debuted The General. Even if the song has been disappointing, it was really cool to be at the official debut after all the years on here. Thanks for the Stockholm syndrome, Axl. 9. Comerica Park- Detroit MI USA 8/8/2021, This was a good, if uneventful show. The best part of this show was that it was announced before the pandemic, postponed, and then put- on after the nightmare that was 2020. It felt like a victory being at a big stadium show after all the bullshit. I went with a big group of friends- a mix of a diehard and casuals. We all had a great time and got great seats for dirt cheap. It was awesome seeing my favorite band without pressure with my buds. It was an outdoor show on a beautiful summer evening. I liked just drinking beer, hanging out, and watching Guns do their thing. The biggest shock of the 2021 tour was the official debut and release of fucking Silkworms. Still getting that live relatively early after they put it out was fucking insane. Not necessarily in a good way, the song sucks, but I still think it is hilarious and on- brand that was Axl's play for the first original GNR song with Slash and Duff since 1991. We also got You're Crazy which was cool. I also got that in 2012, but it was nice hearing Axl, Slash, and Duff do that one together. Keeping one more deep cut or debuting another new song sooner would have helped. They should have at least kept Dead Horse in the set imo. The rest of the show felt like a much cheaper and stripped down Not in this Lifetime show. Way less jamming and soloing than 2017, less energy than 2016, all with a bare- bones stage show. Axl actually did alright. I don't need a soundboard of this show or tour, but the stadium's sound helped mask vocal problems in- person. The band also slowed down a lot of songs and sounded very tight musically. All- in- all, a good show and a great night. 8. The Palace of Auburn Hills- Auburn Hills MI USA 12/1/2011, My second GNR show. Went with my best friend, who is another diehard (although his interest has waned over the years). We have seen a lot of GNR shows together, including our first. Anyways, after the first time we saw them in 2010, we could not wait to see them again. I felt like I had been waiting for a USA tour forever at this point. Some of you will remember Rock in Rio 2011 on here. That was a wild night, and after the incredible performances of 2010, it was a shock to see such a decline in less than a year. Regardless of that, I went insane that they brought Estranged back into the fold, as it is my favorite GNR song. I actually think this lineup did a great job with that track, and it sounded amazing to me in- person. I also got Don't Cry for the first time which was a big deal, back then. We opted for lower bowl seats instead of the floor this gig, and it worked out well since the stage show was pretty cool. GNR actually had a really good stage for 2010 and 2011, imo. Underrated, actually. It was massive in 2011, and I remember it taking up a good portion of the floor. I have a bootleg from this show (thanks for recording it, @RussTCB) that I listen to parts of every few years. Even looking back, they sounded pretty good. Anyways, Estranged was the highlight and what sticks out about this show. There was a time when I was at the peak of GNR- obsession (it has been many years), I would have told you this was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Years later and dozens and dozens of concerts later, this is not even a top GNR show- but it was still a good one! 7. Little Ceasar's Arena- Detroit MI USA 11/2/2017, It is tough for me putting this one at 7 because this show rocked. NITL had hit its stride, and they were doing all- marathon sets at this point in the tour. Over 3- and- a- half hours of GNR in a single night. Maybe not quite Tokyo 2009 or LA 2017, but this show was up there in length and getting that in an arena was neat. I remember being priced out a bit at the time, so I got nosebleeds ahead of time. At the last minute, I managed to get phenomenal center mezzanine seats for the same price and Ticketmaster actually let me return the old tickets. Sometimes it pays to wait! I got a lot of songs at this show that I have been wanting- My Michelle (this is crazily the only time I have gotten it live), Yesterdays, and Prostitute were the highlights for me when it came to deep cuts. Getting Used to Love Her with Slash was fun, too. I don't know why they don't play that one more considering a lot of casuals like it, even. The band actually sounded really good at this show, and even though the energy and vocals weren't quite at 2016 levels, it was a damn good concert. I didn't even mind all the covers, but I would have definitely subbed some of them for other songs. Aside from the songs, I loved how much inspired guitar playing there was in this show. This show is my all- time- favorite Slash show that I have seen including quite a few Conspirators shows and the Hall of Fame. This show felt like Slash ft. Guns N' Roses. Tons of little intros, solos, jams, and some extended tunes. He did this slower blues solo going into his big solo spot, and it sounded great. It felt like Slash left everything on the table this leg of the tour. It was fucking awesome. 6. Fenway Park- Boston MA USA 8/21/2023, I wasn't even planning on seeing the 2023 tour since they didn't have Detroit on the itinerary, but I wound up seeing it twice! This was definitely the superior show. As I said earlier, the Hollywood Bowl gig was still a good time, but this was genuinely an incredible gig. It is no secret that Axl's vocal abilities aren't what they used to be. Despite that, he put on a killer show. He came out of the gate this tour looking better than he has in years, in a good mood (less bloated, cracking jokes...), and with a good energy on stage. He ran around, addressed the crowd more, and even got some killer screams out for this gig. I can't ask for much more out of him, and I was totally happy with Axl this gig for a 2023 GNR show. The rest of the band was great, and I really dug Richard's solo tones. Especially on Rocket Queen. The big thing that stuck out this year has been the setlist. I was debating if I wanted to put this or the 2017 show I saw ahead and I decided this one for the fact that it included new music. I finally got Hard Skool and Perhaps at this show. Hearing those live was pretty surreal. The dusted- off deep cuts were highlights- loved Pretty Tied Up and Bad Obsession. Reckless Life and Anything Goes were a treat, too. Still would have liked Shadow, but you can't have it all! Apparently, this show was a little short due to a curfew, but I left feeling satisfied. Getting Locomotive or TWAT would have sent it over the edge. Still haven't gotten those, live. Another incredible thing about this show was the atmosphere. Fenway is obviously a legendary ballpark, and I have heard horror stories about the views and sound, but I guess I got lucky. I was in the lower bowl with a great view. The sound was killer from my spot. Also, the crowd was fantastic. It straight up monsoon rained during Slither and Jungle. The band and crowd made the best of it, and it actually ended up making the show extremely memorable. 5. Soldier Field- Chicago IL USA 7/3/2023, If I told you this was the best concert I have been to in my life, it would not be a bad choice. This was an amazing show. After being blown away in Vegas and Detroit, my buddy and I decided to do this show the day before or so. Tickets were not expensive because it was the second of two nights. We drove down in the morning, saw the show, then made the 4- hour journey back to Detroit right after. Would I do that again? No, but I am glad we did it for this show! That first stadium run for Not in This Lifetime was fucking amazing. Axl sounded killer at this gig. We were not quite on the rail, but we were up- close on the floor. The only reason this is not ranked higher is because it was so similar to the Detroit 2016 show. Still, this show might have the best Better, This I Love, and other songs that I ever had. I have a boot of this gig too, and I will tell you, this holds up. 4. The Fillmore- Detroit MI USA 2/21/2012, I was really bummed when they announced the Up Close and Personal Tour, and no Detroit show was on the list. I was in college, so it was difficult to travel. Luckily, they added Detroit later in the game and we got tickets and early entry right away. This was fucking insane. I went with my best friend (he has been to a lot of shows with me) and my ex- girlfriend. We got to meet Bumblefoot before the show. He let us play his guitar, played us songs (he even did TWAT and Catcher), and signed autographs and took pictures. The dude really is an amazing person and player. Then we got into the show and got perfect spots on the "barrier". I say "barrier" because there was practically no rail, we were really hanging over the stage. You can't get more up close and personal than that. The Fillmore is one of my all- time favorite venues. It is a smaller, beautiful theater in Detroit. The show was really something. My first time getting Civil War, You're Crazy, and Used to Love Her. Axl was sick and we were worried he wouldn't show, but he did, and he brought it. He skipped the November Rain outro by mistake which was kind of funny. This is easily one of the greatest concerts I have ever experienced. Caught 2 picks from Richard, one from DJ and Ron, and a drumstick. Still have 'em, of course. 3. T Mobile Arena- Las Vegas NV USA 4/8/2016, I am glad I got to go to such a historical show. The first full- production show with Slash and Duff back. The forums and fanbase were electric leading up to this, and what a ride it was- the Troubadour, learning about his foot, the Vegas meetups, sharing the show with my best friends, it was awesome. We were sitting far away, Axl was in a chair, but they sounded really good. Coma was such a cool thing to bring out back then. I don't think anyone seriously thought they would dig that one out. Even though I have seen better performances closer, the fact that this was the first big show of the reunion with early Slashed- up Chinese songs, Coma and Double Talking Jive, Axl actually sounding good again, and Slash doing his thing in his rightful place make this one of the most memorable shows I have been to just by default. 2. John Labatt Center- London ON Canada 1/25/2010, This is one of the greatest memories of my life. I was 18- years old. Just started college. Going through my first real heartbreak. Peak GNR obsession. After waiting for what seems like forever, they finally announced dates. Nothing in the USA, but London Ontario happened to be only 3- hours away. I didn't have a car, but I didn't care. I bought two tickets without thinking about it. My best friend and I were so fucking hyped. His mom actually ended up getting us a good hotel and drove us up there. We listened to Tokyo 2009 the entire way up. The show itself was a stereotypical GNR show which was awesome. Waiting hours, naked girls, fights, Sebastian Bach opened, then more waiting. Seeing Axl for the first time at that age was a core memory. Being up close, practically on the rail, and seeing the band was mind- blowing. The Chinese songs all felt "new" (at least Sorry, ITW, Shacklers, and some others still did), the setlist was a great blend of old and new, and Axl was just a force to be reckoned with. He truly was incredible in 2010. The memory of this show and what it means to me cannot be overstated, but it also can't be the best GNR show I have seen because we were missing some key members (Slash) which leads to... 1. Ford Field- Detroit MI USA 6/23/2016, This is the pinnacle of rock concerts that I have personally attended. Unless Led Zeppelin does a show (they won't), this will always remain as the greatest gig I will ever attend. This felt like everything a Guns N' Roses concert should be. Still riding the Vegas/Coachella/AxlDC high, we were all excited for the main event- the stadium run. This felt like Guns N' Roses' test to see if they were truly back. Looking back, it is easy to get bored because they are such a stable touring lineup, but it felt pretty miraculous for the time that Axl and the band were able to have a sort of comeback in the public view. I will always love NuGNR and cherish the 3 amazing shows I saw. I spent a lot of great memories on here and following the band before 2016. It was also kind of cool how NuGNR felt more niche. It felt like our thing in a weird way. Still, the reunion came at the right time and somehow, they really pulled it off. Sure, Not in This Lifetime was a nostalgia tour, but who cares? It was an awesome nostalgia tour. I never got to see the original band, so to experience GNR with Axl, Slash, and Duff with the original bullet logo being plastered everywhere, and a massive stage production that felt like a modern- day UYI tour, well, it was fucking awesome for me. I saw 3 shows in 2016, and all 3 were incredible. This was the best of them. I got to meet up with a lot of forum members on here at a great party, miraculously got a front- row center spot on the barrier despite getting there late (I feel like I had the best spot in the entire stadium- you can even clearly see me in their tour book and in some press photos!), and had a ton of friends and family at this show. My sister, dad, (another) aunt, other friends, forumers, all were at this show, but I didn't sit with any of them. I wanted to spend the money on the pit and I am glad I did. Axl's foot was healed, and he was running around the stage constantly. Slash was looser and more comfortable than in Vegas, and they sounded So. Fucking. Good. I would kill for a Blu- Ray or vinyl album of this show. Fucking hell was it cool. And I was right at the front for it all. 2016 was really an amazing time to be a GNR fan. Yeah, the tempos were a bit fast, but they helped lead to some really high- energy shows. Axl sounded great on that entire stadium run. This show will not be topped for me. Popular Post Powerage5
Hard to rank 19 shows, some of these are fairly interchangeable. Just a couple quick notes to justify all of these also. 1. 2012-02-15 New York, NY (The Ritz, great setlist, performance, and crowd at a special venue. Couldn't ask for more.) 2. 2014-06-06 Las Vegas, NV (Night 8, one of the longest GN'R shows ever and a very good performance from Axl by any post-2010 standards.) 3. 2010-01-24 Hamilton, ON (First show, excellent setlist with TWAT, ITW, and Scraped all in the same show.) 4. 2014-06-07 Las Vegas, NV (Final NuGN'R show, first time I met Axl after the show so this one holds a special place.) 5. 2016-06-23 Detroit, MI (Opening night of NITL, great performance from all, a few gems in the set. Best reunion show I've seen by far.) 6. 2023-09-03 Toronto, ON (Fun show in good company, loved the 2023 setlist and a couple rare picks that night.) 7. 2013-06-08 New York, NY (Governor's Ball - lean, mean show clocking in at an hour and 40 mins. The only show I've seen that didn't feel bloated at all.) 8. 2017-08-16 Buffalo, NY (In the pit with good company, a thoroughly enjoyable NITL-era show.) 9. 2021-09-16 Chicago, IL (In the pit at a legendary venue, felt very fun after the mess that was Hershey. Glad I gave them another go.) 10. 2014-06-04 Las Vegas, NV (Night 7, return of Yesterdays, Prostitute, and Marseille to the setlist. Very good show overshadowed by the next one.) 11. 2013-06-06 Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn Bowl - the show was a mess musically/vocally, but a lot of fun to attend such a tiny show.) 12. 2016-07-12 Pittsburgh, PA (Not bad, but unremarkable. Felt very tame a few weeks after Detroit.) 13. 2017-08-19 Montreal, QC (Felt like the band was treading water. Took a four year break from seeing them after this one.) 2012-02-12 New York, NY (Terminal 5 - a fairly good show that was soured by very poor venue staff. Probably better than I rank it in reality.) 2011-11-28 Hamilton, ON (Disappointed how similar it was to Wilkes-Barre the week before, but a better show.) 2013-06-05 Buffalo, NY (Outdoor show that was windy and cold AF. Axl sounded rough, and setlist was stale other than CITR.) 2011-11-20 Wilkes-Barre, PA (Pretty sloppy, and a fairly short show due to a lengthy production delay.) 2014-05-14 Bethlehem, PA (I hardly remember a thing about this show. Stale in every sense of the word.) 2021-07-31 Hershey, PA (The only redeeming factor was seeing, a very poor rendition of, Dead Horse live. Laughably bad show.) Seeing how I ranked them out, I think I may avoid seeing GN'R in Pennsylvania anymore 3
Appetitefordiscussion
I’ve seen them three times- 2014, 2016, and 2023. 2014- will never forget the opening riff to Chinese Democracy passing through my chest. Bumble was really fun to watch and Tommy did Sonic Reducer. This was a time surrounding lots of chatter of a new album. In hindsight, I’m really happy I got to experience Nu-Guns. Or Nu-Nu Guns more appropriately. 2016- was really cool seeing them play Coma and getting to see Slash and Duff for the first time. The new Better intro was so epic. 2023- this was my favorite time seeing them. So many treats in the setlist: Perhaps, Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obsession, Madagascar. Carry Underwood killed it and Axl was definitely in a great mood. Love reading about other fans cherished moments Edited January 19 by Appetitefordiscussion

Popular Post F*ck Fear
1. Hamilton, Ontario 2010 Axl's razor-sharp rasp. CD heavy setlist. TWAT. What a show! 2. Toronto, Ontario 2006 Axl's voice was in great shape. Cool set list. First time hearing Better live (leaks has happened) I was singing along to Better from the front row and it put a smile on Axl's face. 3. Toronto, Ontario 2016 First time seeing Axl & Slash together. The nostalgia made for an awesome night. 4. Toronto, Ontario 2002 First time seeing Guns N Roses live. After the VMA's I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great. Buckethead really impressed me. 5. Hamilton, Ontario 2011 Axl's vocals has downgraded since 2010 but the show was still cool. Loved Riff Raff! 6. Toronto, Ontario 2013 DJ Ashba ruined much of this show for me. Making out with his girlfriend while other band members had their solo spot. Felt like he didn't want to be there anymore, and his playing showed that. 4

Lies They Tell
I've only seen GNR live twice. Helsinki 2006 This was actually the first gig I've ever attended. (Not just GNR but in general) I was almost in the front row and could feel the warmth of the pyro. Axl was in a playful mood. I remember that he was throwing a ball with Frank. I think this was also the first gig where Axl performed Street of Dreams standing on top of the piano. I was one of the few who could sing along to the new CD songs because I had heard the leaks. Axl sounded amazing and I remember being blown away after the show. Hämeenlinna 2017 It was amazing to see GNR with Slash and Duff. Axl didn't sound as good as in 2006 obviously and he wasn't as playful either. I wasn't even close to the front row this time, so the experience wasn't as mind blowing as last time. But on the other hand they played EVERY SINGLE SONG that I wanted to hear and more. Coma was probably the highlight for me and the fireworks at the end was a nice touch as well. It's pretty difficult for me to rank these shows, because 2006 was my first show and I was almost at the front row, so the experience was better in that sense. Axl also sounded better. On the other hand in 2017 Slash and Duff were there and they played every GNR song I've ever wanted to hear live.

Gordon Comstock
Calgary 2010 The best show I've ever seen. The set, the stage setup, the performance, everything about it was incredible. ITW, Shackler's, IRS, Better... Axl sounded fucking incredible and was surprisingly interactive with the crowd (telling stories and jokes throughout the show, even a little story/rant between CD and WTTJ). He had a lot of fun 'pranking' Bubbles with a lookalike. Las Vegas 2016 (Night One) This one ranks so highly just for the atmosphere, it was electric. I lost my fucking mind when the intro to Coma started. Seattle 2011 Duff opened this show which was really cool. 2011 gets a lot of shit because of Rio, but Axl sounded great at this one - Civil War was fantastic, Better was near 2010-level, the AC/DC covers were fun. Ron handed me his pick at the end of Whole Lotta Rosie, when he hung over the monitors and let the people up front strum his guitar at the end of the song. The 'dolphin bomb' during Estranged was pretty funny. I've got Loaded's setlist from this gig somewhere... Seattle 2016 Again this one ranks highly because it had a great atmosphere. Their first stadium run since the 90s (in North America, at least) and Axl was in top form. OTGM and Coma were definitely the highlights, it had one of the better performances of TIL, and we got Catcher which is kinda rare now... Las Vegas (6/6/2014) TWAT, Prostitute, Yesterdays, Marseilles... Axl sounded great, they played rare songs, and smaller venues are always better. Las Vegas 2016 (Night Two) I was front row for the first night, and 2nd-to-last row in the upper section for this show, which was a cool contrast. Technically this was the better show, but I had more fun at the first one. It was cool to see Baz join them, though. Las Vegas (6/7/2014) Last show of the 'CD era' and Axl definitely went all out for it. Another great setlist, and it was cool to see Nicolas Cage introduce them. Was fun hanging with Powerage, Black Sabbath, MSL, Sleeping Like An Angel and a few others at those 2014 shows. Vancouver 2011 The other show where Duff opened. Probably the only show in the last 15 years where Axl got pissed at an audience member and kicked him out of the show. It was a lot of fun, rowdy crowd, Ron handed my (at the time) gf his pick at the end of Rosie. Axl sounded noticeably tired from the previous night in Seattle but it was still good. Duff joined for YCBM and Civil War. Las Vegas (11/23/2012) 14 Years and Dead Flowers with Izzy, what more do I need to say? Typical late-2012 performance but half a dozen songs with Izzy was really cool to see. Las Vegas (11/24/2012) The last time Izzy and Axl performed together (at least publicly). Gorge 2017 Great venue, I'd wanted to see a show there for years so it was great to see them there. Ayron Jones was added as a last-minute opener and he killed it, he made me a fan that night. This show was definitely better than the previous one in Vancouver, but still the 2017 shows had a lot of bloat. The covers were actually highlights, they'd just started playing Wichita Lineman and I Got You. I never liked their version of Black Hole Sun but it got a good response from the crowd. Vancouver 2017 Like the Gorge show, I Got You was definitely a highlight. Nice versions of Nightrain, Catcher, and Wichita. The sound at BC is notoriously hit or miss though, and this show sounded pretty bad from where I was (front row). Vancouver 2023 It definitely sounded better than the 2017 show, but Axl sounded worse. It was great to hear songs like Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obsession, etc and it was my first time hearing 'new' songs since 2010. Unfortunately Axl's voice failed him a few times during the show, you could tell he was tired and really pushing himself but the voice just wasn't there at times. It probably should've been the last show of the tour, I'm surprised they added another half-dozen shows or whatever it was. It was nice to meet Amir at this show, too.

Gunner Gilby
I've only been lucky enough to see GN'R in four times as I live in NZ but here they are. 4: Auckland 29th June 2007. Even tho Axl and Dizzy were the only classic era members left I was excited to see this show. I wanted to see and hear what this line up was like. Plus it was a year before Chinese Democracy dropped so it was cool to hear songs of it played. The band sounded tight and I loved Dizzy's piano cover of Don't Dream It's Over by kiwi band Crowded House. Angry Anderson and Sebastian Bach were great as the support acts and both guested during the GN'R set. 3: Auckland 6th February 1993. I was 15 and this was my first big concert. NZ band Dead Flowers and Skid Row were the support acts. There was a sound issue at the start which got fixed pretty quick. But all three bands and the general atmosphere was just incredible. Top night. My parents friends owned a go kart track where Slash and Gilby went the night before. I was one of a very lucky few who got to go down and hang. Got to meet and get Gilby and Slash's autographs which probably meant as much if not more than the show. Only thing that sucked is Axl rocked up shortly after I left so just missed out on meeting him. 2: Wellington 2nd February 2017. The weather was shit. Rained all thru the show. But I didn't care. Like most I never could've dreamed Axl n Slash would make up and share a stage again and after a year back together they were in NZ. Epic show despite the weather. They played just shy of three hours and they played Coma. 1: Wellington 8th December 2022. Beautiful sunny NZ summer weather this time. This show got delayed about a year cos of COVID so everyone was pretty fucking excited. Another great show and set. Band played well over there hours. Axl was in a great mood.
