bigpoop
I don't know. Highway to Hell is cool because it's a cover, but if I shelled out for Billy Joel, I think I'd wanna hear Billy Joel do the Billy Joel songs.
Pixeb
I noticed that Axl used a blue microphone again. Just as in the 90's. But with a black top (I don't know the name) Sounds a bit stupid but like to see the old mic again.

Why he doesn't will always be a mystery

I told you yesterday in the voice thread that IMO he's done. But after this, i have to say that i was wrong. This is one of the best performances of HTH he ever did, and its shocking that happened ONE WEEK after the Apollo fiasco. I cant believe how he chooses to go the easy route and sing like shit with GNR and then give this performances. He clearly doesnt care about us Edited July 29, 2017 by GNRfanMILO

MyPrettyTiedUpMichelle
Hmm...Big Shot is one of my all time favourite BJ songs so I'm not loving Axl's version of it here. I think he sounds a tad flat and uninspired, but that's probably my bias creeping in. Have to wonder what Billy's fans made of it. AC/DC cover was MUCH better to my ears, he sounded great for that and sang with confidence. Back in his comfort zone. Edit: I love all the cheers Axl got when he was introduced. Popular Post Iron MikeyJ
I thought he sounded great on both songs. As for the Axl vocal situation, here is my theory. For starters some nights are just better than others. Apollo was a good night overall, some songs were great, some were ok, a couple were slightly below average. So all in all, I think it was a good night, not great, but good. The second thing I think is the truth is AC/DC songs are just plain easier to sing for him than Guns songs are. Whether it's Bon or Brian, those songs tend to stay in the same range throughout the song, while Guns songs are a lot more varied in range throughout the song. It's the going between the ranges that cause him to struggle, not staying in a particular range. So the truth is, AC/DC IS easier for him than his own songs are. Finally, I think the 3 plus hour shows also plays a role. I think he deliberately takes it easier on certain songs in order to save his voice for the whole set, and maybe even for the next show. Take Apollo for example, Axl was overall GREAT for the first 6 songs or so of that concert. Sure he had weaker moments Here and there during those first few songs, but overall he was great. He gave a masterful performance during better, then I feel, he took it easy for the next few songs (rocket queen, ycbm). He has to pace himself, is what I think is going on. If he is having a great night, when he is pacing himself, he still sounds very good. When it's not a great night, the pacing is when we get "Mickey". Having said that, based upon what we saw here with Billy Joel, I would say he doesn't have to worry about pacing himself and it showed. So basically, I believe Axl VERY much could give YCBM or SCOM 100% effort if he was only doing a couple of songs, but when there are 7-10 MORE after it, he DOES take it easy on them. I don't fault him for that, he's not 28 anymore. He ALWAYS gives his best during the CD songs, Jungle, NR, PC (whatever he has left by that time) and a few others. But yes, he does take it easy on some of the songs, but can we blame him? Most big bands play for 1:45, 2 hrs top. Guns plays for 3 hours most nights. He is giving us all he has on THAT particular night, I can't knock him for that.
