Popular Post Blackstar
Nuno Bettencourt says most guitarists “could not in their lifetime” play with Rihanna – even Slash [...] In a recent interview with Planet Rock, the guitarist claims that a majority of the electric guitar players he looks up to – even Slash – would not be able handle a set with RiRi given the demands of the gig. “When somebody like Rihanna reaches out to you to perform everybody thinks ‘oh, that’s cute. It’s a pop artist, whatever,’” Bettencourt says. “Let me tell you something, what I had to do night after night… put on a reggae hat [for one song] with a reggae feel, and go into R&B, then go into some punk rock and pop rock that she did, and then club tracks. All sorts of [things], all those different feels.” “I’m sorry, most of the guitar players who I admire could not in their lifetime play that gig,” he adds. “I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.” “Slash is one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time but I guarantee – and he’d be the first to tell you – that if he jumps up and he’s got to play a clean intro to Rude Boy from Rihanna, it ain’t happening.” https://guitar.com/news/music-news/nuno-bettencourt-on-rihanna-gig-guitar/ Edited July 23, 2023 by Blackstar 3 1 3 1

Popular Post seely
For all the criticism they get for being fairly media-silent, things like this make you realise perhaps why it is that Guns don't engage much with interviews/the media - a couple of comments can quickly spiral into this sort of petty tit for tat Edited July 23, 2023 by seely 7
Popular Post Georgina Arriaga
Let's just said that Nuno has a very healthy ego. In my opinion Fortus was not offensive and Nuno was in his answer. If he said It, he said It, own It. 19

Popular Post Lio
That Nuno comes off very poorly. What a crybaby. You would think a guy would be more mature at age 56. But no. Obviously has no idea about how the media work nowadays and then complaining about someone reacting to it. Fortus was nothing but respectful and Nuno has to blow it up going out of his way saying he hasn't heard Fortus play one note. Sad figure.
6lake sa66ath
If anything Perhaps this paints 4tus in a better light overall with the Guns camp rather than just a mere "replacement player" as he's been referred to, he is sticking up for and reinforcing his bond with Slash more like a bonafide member of the band.
LA_0013
Wow! Nuno a little touchy. Don’t think Fortus said anything derogatory in what he said. Just countered an opinion with an opinion. Ain’t his fault Nuno used the word ‘struggle’
El Guapo
Nuno shouldn't have said that in the first place. He's strange. :/

Popular Post Rovim
didn't own what he said, looked down on Richard as a guitar player, kind of an asshole response. From the interviews I've read with Nuno, He seems to be an alright guy but the vibe I get from him is that he thinks maybe too highly of himself. He talks about his accomplishments too much as well imo. Fortus disagreed with him and kept it respectful imo, and Nuno replied to it like a child and it reads more like an internet tantrum. Did not take the high road, and instead was quite insulting to Richard for no good reason. whatever, I think Nuno also handled it very poorly cause like he said he's afraid Slash wouldn't be his friend/like him anymore, but he should maybe think about choosing his words more carefully next time in interviews. I don't think he meant to insult anyone with his first comment about Slash, but that still doesn't make Fortus wrong imo and he has every right to speak his mind about his band member. no class in Nuno's response to Fortus and Nuno is in his 50's. I think he also got too excited about the great response to Extreme's new album and his solo in Rise. Maybe that went to his head a little, idk. D4NNY
“it was about Rock guitarists like myself and Slash” So what the hell is Fortus? That guys response is so arrogant and egotistical.
Popular Post MaskingApathy
Tbf Nuno is way more well known and respected in guitar circles than 4tus, he's kind of right in saying that he's only heard of 4tus in the context of replacing him in Rhianna's band and being the other guitarist in GnR (I thin that's true for most people). Personally I think 4tus should've kept his mouth shut to begin with, his reaction of "oh you're wrong because I know Slash and I play with him every night" comes off as him sucking up to Slash and trying to look supportive when honestly I'm sure Slash doesn't even care about what Nuno said (and he probably fully understood what Nuno meant anyway).

He gave Slash as an example of a guitar player that wouldn't be able to pull off what Nuno already managed to do. (I'm sorry, it ain't happening) now he changed what he said to it's just awkward (I guess would be challenging) for Slash and other rock guitar players to pull of, so that implies it would not be impossible for them to pull off, all those rock guitar players, that are just like Nuno. if you choose to use social media to talk about your shit, and you share your opinions on other musicians, don't be surprised if someone disagrees with you and also shares their opinion on what you've said. Also, I don't think it matters that Nuno is more well known and highly regarded in guitar circles. That doesn't mean you must act like a dick, which imo, he did. it comes off as kissing up to Slash cause he defended Slash's ability as a guitar player? I disagree about that cause I don't believe Fortus is faking his admiration for Slash and I think he has a fairly good understanding of Slash's talent and skill. Rayno
I'm pretty sure Slash is very unhappy about the situation. Both 4tus and Nuno (in his second statement) acted like weirdos.

Bit odd if he was replacing Fortus he has never heard him play a note. Sounds like BS to me. He won't be winning any sympathy prizes. If anyone comes off as a suck up, it's Nuno. He had a big mouth and regrets it and now he's trying to get in Slash's good books (Not saying Slash cares any way.) 29 minutes ago, jamillos said: Never heard of. Only song I know that he was on. I wouldn't exactly put him in the same sentence as Slash, but maybe he's big in the US.

Voodoochild
I don't think Richard was wrong on that, but I get what Nuno was saying at first. His response to Fortus was childish indeed. I tried to watch Rick Beato interview with Nuno and let me just say that I couldn't get past the 5 min (it was over an hour long). 10 minutes ago, batatadoce said: "I new" that's the most shocking part.
