This is me speculating but I wonder if it hits him a bit harder as someone who's had issues with his health and seemed to look notably healthier in the past year? There was a moment they showed her casket and even I was taken a back… imagine how Axl felt seeing that while playing and singing, must have been very tough. Add in the fact this was solo, no band waiting at the side of a stage, no backing, it’s not something he’s done in a very long time and if the story of the London shows last year is true (anxiety attacks) this would’ve added a great deal to the nerves. It was obvious he was nervous and mourning so I don't feel critiques on the performance are appropriate at this time. Funerals are one of the hardest things to go through, and I hope all her loved ones are able to find peace.
