Mike Clink producing….is he doing the whole album or just that track though?

Probably whole album. He produced Rocket Man few years back aswell, the sound was already better than anything Slash released after Snakepit....

1. The Pusher (feat. Chris Robinson) -> Orig Hoyt Axton, done by Nina Simone, Blind Melon
2. Crossroads (feat. Gary Clark Jr.) -> Orig Robert Johnson (Cross Road Blues), done by Clapton, Elmore James
3. Hoochie Coochie Man (feat. Billy Gibbons) -> Orig Muddy Waters (written by Willy Dixon), done by Clapton, BB King, Allman Brothers Band, Buddy Guy...
4. Oh Well (feat. Chris Stapleton) -> Orig Fleetwood Mac, done by Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes, Tom Petty, Deep Purple
5. Key to the Highway (feat. Dorothy) -> Blues traditional? Done by BB King, Clapton, Buddy Guy, Little Walter, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Rolling Stones and basically everybody and their momma
6. Awful Dream (feat. Iggy Pop) -> Orig Lightning Hopkins? I don't know this one
7. Born Under a Bad Sign (feat. Paul Rodgers) -> Another blues traditional? Most famous by Albert King I guess? Also recorded by Etta James
8. Papa Was a Rolling Stone (feat. Demi Lovato) -> Orig Undisputed Truth, made famous by The Temptations, also done by Black Crowes
9. Killing Floor (feat. Brian Johnson) -> Orig Howlin Wolf, also an early live staple for Hendrix and Zeppelin iirc
10. Living for the City (feat. Tash Neal) -> Orig Stevie Wonder?
11. Stormy Day (feat. Beth Hart) -> Is this (Call It) Stormy Monday by T-Bone Walker?  If so also done by Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Allman Brothers Band

Classic blues songs covered by Slash and some renowned guest appearences I think this will be a really good listen.

The cool thing about blues is that a song’s interpretation can make it totally different from artist to artist. Killing Floor done by Led Zeppelin in 68- 69 became The Lemon Song, and both of those might as well be different songs than Slash’s version, etc

Stormy Day probably an original as well?

My point was actually that topping all the versions that are already out there (or even just doing them justice) is going to be challenging. I'm excited and I hope they do, just saying there are already a lot of beloved versions of these.

Yeah, that's also an option of course. The Stormy Monday link is just guessing out loud.

That’s cool….it’d be awesome if this was somehow a catalyst for Clink getting involved with GNR somehow. Unlikely but you never know. 🤞

This is sort of what I'm hoping for as well. These songs have been done in different ways. I hope Slash rather makes them work in his way rather than copy one of the many renditions already out there.

Seems fitting in a certain respect to have Slash and Brian Johnson team up after Axl got to have his fun with Angus.

It’s not their first collaboration though, they appeared on the same track on the Hollywood Vampires debut

Sounds great. If I'd heard it playing somewhere, I'd never guess it's Slash and Brian Johnson on it. Sounds quite different from anything Slash has played before. Even his tone is remarkably different!

I am over excited about this! Outside of rock blues is my favorite genre and of course Slash is my favorite guitarist. this combination is gold for me. I am mostly looking forward to hear his take with Billy Gibbons on Hoochie Coochie man, Muddy Waters is my favorite blues musician.

I just don't like his vocals anymore

It's a well-known fact that studio singing is a lot different than live singing. I would think most people know that by now. Brian Johnson sounds much different in the track than usual, just as an obvious example.

If that's you're reasoning, it doesn't make much sense.

Gee, thanks for stating the fucking obvious

i've seen a couple of people say Axl is on Metal Chesnut still looking into that because it could have been said to get people over hyped

A little added update on this, I've messaged someone who allegedly worked as an engineer on the album who says Axl played on Metal Chesnut waiting to hear back again to see if it's legit or a troll, likely a troll imo
