Playing in Rio, and specially at this festival, is something really important to him. I'm not saying this because I'm from Rio (I fucking HATE this damn city) but I've watched Axl perform in 7 different states in Brazil and none of them holds a candle compared to how Axl goes on the stage when performing in Rio. It's just different, hard to explain, you have to experience it here to compare to other places. When he walked on stage tonight I felt it in his eyes he was like "I can't fuck this shit up, must give my 110%". He was on game face mode for almost the whole show. At the end of paradise city he had a smirk on his face as if he was thinking "yeah, I still got it". I was there front row at rock in Rio '11 and '17. I could tell Axl wasn't happy with what he was giving. Tonight it felt different - even though I was at home this time. A guns n roses show in Rio is just different. Even for Axl. And getting a tweet such as that from him like an hour after the gig's done just confirms this for me. Not really, considering this was the first time this year they played 'Attitude'. In fact, you have to go back to 2020 to find the last time they played 'Attitude'. So that was a surprise. The band sounded great, I can't say anything bad about them. As for Axl, he sounds bad, if he wasn't Axl he would be thrown out of the stage...but he is Axl, and he was the best, now doing what he can with his age and vocals, I watch him and cant feel anything but love for the man.
