    • The very fact that Izzy was not involved back suggests that the band's plans did not include restoring the classic line-up, and therefore writing music and recording an album. That's what we've seen over these eight years, just touring and almost no music. It would be interesting to look at the partnership memorandum with Izzy's participation. Most likely, the ones who made the decision in partnership were Axl and Izzy. And then Slash took Izzy's place and we already know how it ended (with a big scandal and the dissolution of the band). For sure, Izzy would have demanded the restoration of his influence, it seems to me that Axl was scared and chickened out, because then he would have to prove to Izzy that he was not a creative bankrupt. Axl would have to show Izzy the notebook in which he writes down his lyrics, which I don't think Axl has kept for a hundred years
    • "Jarmo clone"? You know, it is possible to stick to your opinion without taking potshots at others. But okay, I will indulge your little trolling. To people not familiar with Jarmo and his reputation, what jamillos is basically saying here is that I am a sycophant who tries to curry favors with Axl by saying whatever he wants to hear. Maybe jamillos isn't aware of my thoughts on many Axl songs? Or my thoughts on the "reunion"? Or my thoughts on shifting any blame for the lack of releases away from Axl to the managers? Or my thoughts on Axl's dress sense? Or that I am writing down the history of the band without omitting anything that is critical? Or maybe jamillos is simply unable to detect criticism that isn't repeated daily in caps lock and short sentences? Sort of related to how he isn't able to fathom that the reasons behind Axl's lack of productivity could be somewhat more complex than just "laziness" and that me pointing to mental issues is not exactly sucking up to Axl? So no, I am not a Jarmo clone. And jamillos is not an Einstein.
    • Well then end of the day on Izzy is that if you take your money and run you can't be upset 25yrs later when your exes offer you less than you think is fair. You ride it out, wins and losses and then you get to enjoy the spoils. I still wish Izzy had been involved in the NITL run, and I kinda hope he reconciles still, even if it's just as a collaborator
    • Don't know, I guess people claimed it was earlier than that? Maybe in 2000? Or in 2003-ish?
    • I think that, at the time Izzy left the band, quitting the partnership probably seemed to him as the best thing to do, as there were many lawsuits pending against GN'R (for riots, cancellations, Adler's lawsuit, etc.) and he was afraid that if he stayed there was a chance that the band would go bankrupt and he'd lose a lot of what he'd made, and so he opted to take his share and run. And then, after all those lawsuits had been settled (and GN'R hadn't gone bankrupt) his lawyers negotiated a deal so that he would get something more, hence the settlement of getting royalties for UYI until 1997.
